Title: solvents and plastic tanks
Post by: mainline on April 22, 2008, 05:09:30 pm
oh yes, plastic tank questions, that old chestnut.

Just recieved my can of Blue Lightning tank sealer from the States and in the instructions it says to prep the inside of the tank with "Metal Prep, Toluene, Xylene, or Solvent 100"

I think these instructions are for metal and plastic tanks, and I'm just wondering if there's one of these solvents that would be easier to use, cheaper etc and also not melt the tank?

Toluene is paint thinners, also used by cheating arsehole refineries in petrol as a substitute... it attracts far far less fuel taxes so the scumbags mix thousands of litres of the shit in your "good petrol"  >:(
Flush your tanks out with thinners and plenty of Clean compressed air.  ;)
