Post by: Matador107 on December 21, 2012, 07:25:44 am
For the true believers, our man Ignacio Chivite is back for another go on his Frontera, hopefully he has a support team and gets in more days this time. " Built to go"

From what I can try to interpret from the Ignatio Chivite Facebook page which will autotranslate his words from Spanish into strangled spenglish, he ran out of time changing his engine so the Organisers bumped him.  Pls correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd say a lot of riders will have dropped out because of this early tough sand and be well pissed off.

The Dakar, even when it went to Dakar :D, was always set up to sort the wheat from the chaff early on. The 1st couple of stages in morocco were really tough and timed tight so they didn't have to have the broom-wagon filling up in the wastes of Tenere'.
This year they have turned the rally around and I would say for just that reason. If you look at the early stages last year, they looked fast and fun with the dunes coming later near the finish. Same reason I reckon.

Well done Aussies. Two in top 20 - Rod Faggoter in 14th and Ben Grabham in 15th. Awesome performances. Todd Smith in 34th and water carrier Matt Fish well back after doing the team thing for the Hooskie lads.
