We are all evil in Auckalofa Jeff, much like you Sydney siders.
Thats a shame about no pre 90 bikes featuring, there aint nothing like the smell of powervalves and disc brakes in the morning.... :o :o
-
Giving the benefit of doubt to dorklandrers ....... I would rather disk brakes & power valves than water cooled 4-chokes.
-
Just turned up via the postie....

Mr Crocket - I think Ray would probably be turning in his grave as well, having a good laugh. Do you really think I included it in the magazine because I thought it was the best resto I'd ever seen? Talking piece, yes. It takes all types.

And they took the bait hook line and sinker.

Yep, that RM certainly is the ugliest bike the mag's ever presented but how cool is that swingarm? ::). My own work aside, I liked the mix in #52. I thought the Yamaico was an interesting bike, I would have figured that an MX125 motor would look pretty miniscule in the full size Maico frame but it looks right. Goolies 495 Kato looks a treat and the article is a good read. Even the little Indian racer was interesting but I think our Jimsons bike is equally as good. To me however the best read was Smithy's piece on Joe Bolger, what a genius he is. His rear suspension system is equally as revolutionary as Tilkins cantilever system used by Yamaha but unfortunately no factories picked it up, if they had perhaps the suspension revolution might have gone in a different direction.
Kens Sweep Rider column was a nice tribute to our old mate Magoo but it's elsewhere in the piece that I found something that bought a wry smile to my face....to quote Ken, " ....She was a regular watcher of another Aussie on US TV at the time, that self absorbed Tosser Steve Irwin and had some vague idea that the bloke was mystical and mysterious. Sorry lady, Irwin just made everything out to be bigger and better than it really was, including himself". At last another brother in arms who thought the Crocodile Hunter or whatever it was Steve Irwin called himself was a wanker. Irwin made a living fuc*ing with poor animals that didn't want to be fuc*ed with. Karma got him in the end ::).

Psst.... Ken....
No one's bagged the CD9 coverage yet.... thank God for that! ::)
Nice decoy the RM was. ;D
-
You blokes want to hope old mate with the pukestar RM doesnt top himself when he realises he's the laughing stock of the VMX word......then it will become the deathstar RM.....maybe this will be the next issue that pulls the big bucks in years to come?....a bit like the old "Edsel".....everyone thought it was ugly when it first came out, now it's a collectors item.....who knows?
-
I said it would be a talking piece, that's all, never accused it of being ugly, it's just very different!
-
I agree that RM is a bit in ya face and my first impressions were WTF!!! but I can recall in a few issues back some butt ugly XL's painted with white fork legs and spokes that made me gag. I enjoyed the story about Shoey's Husky Auto's though, nice bikes.
