Title: Yamaha seals
Post by: Paul552 on December 04, 2012, 08:57:26 pm
 ???

I am trying to get hold of a gear shift shaft seal and a kick start seal for a 1977 yz125D

I went to CBC bearings but no luck due to funny sizes

Kick start. OD 25mm ID 16mm. 4mm wide

Gear shaft. OD 21mm ID 12mm 4mm wide

Any tips were I can find them?

Are they the same as any other Yamaha ? Do you think I can get them from a Yamaha dealer????

Any help would be awesome

Paul

I always try my local Yamaha dealer first. If parts are available you will always have them the next day. Your Yamaha parts guy has access to all Yamaha parts in other Yamaha shops as well. You just have to ask him to search all stores for your parts. It pays to get to know your parts guy and they will generally look after you. It also pays to have part numbers and description written down. Good luck

I usually have pretty good luck with these guys

http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=0&sort=2a&search_3fields=1&keywords1=12&keywords2=21&keywords3=4&x=23&y=7

they have 12x21x4.  they don't have 16x25x4, but they do have 16x25x6.  Youd probably find that the extra 2mm didn't matter.  A good bit cheaper than Mr Yamaha.

The spare parts guys at Bikebiz are actually very competant. If they can't get it, they will happily look up dealer dead stock for availability. I use 'em regularly, speak to Steve.

That's great Paul. The beauty of buying genuine parts from your local dealer is the part always fits, first time
If Yamaha Australia don't have the part ( N.L.A ) Speed and Sport USA ( yamatopdog.com ) is your best bet
