Title: RM125B engine bearings
Post by: Montynut on December 01, 2012, 09:36:10 pm
I'm in the process of trying to bring an RM125B back from the brink. Presently rebuilding the engine. Now to my questions.

Some of the gearbox bearings have location pegs in the outer race that fit into a slot in the casing to (I assume) stop the bearing from rotating in the case. Some of the bearings have pins and some don't even though they have a slot in the case for one.

My question is do I really need the pins in the outer race as naturally that means buying genuine bearings instead of buying bearings at a bearing supplier?

Secondly should the crank bearings be C3 bearing as the shot ones are just plain CM bearings?

no dont have to buy stock items with pins you can use loctite, but me feels the factory used them for a reason so personly I would use the stock standard  ;D then you can sleep with wondering

Crank bearings use C3, everything else can be std. As per Shelpi's post, you can use "normal" bearings with a little loctite. i have done this myself over the years on various things which used special NLA bearings andnever had an issue so long as you clean everything correctly with brake clean or similar before using loctite.

yep what he said ;) have every thing super clean the best thing about cleaning everything to perfection is that you are inspecting every item full on, remove all burs, stains, nicks, rust and check all mateing surfaces with a straight edge, you really should shell out the bucks get a suzuki manual the factory job or one as good they tend to give you all the good oil  8) and then you have all specs, data and s.o.p's (std operational proceedures)ie what is the omhs value of the primary coil? no more guessing its all there :D
