Title: Ossa Frame Colour
Post by: Tony T on November 18, 2012, 03:46:00 pm
I've blasted and primed the frame of my '75 Ossa Explorer, but all the silvers I have seem too bright.
Would anyone be able to help with what the original colour was? Was it actually fairly bright when new or is it more of a flat silver?  ???
Thanks in advance.

Beauty! Thanks a lot for that!
I'm doing rattle can on the frame too, so no problem there.
I'll grab a can of that tomorrow and give it a whirl.
Thanks again.  ;D

I used Wattyl killrust aluminium in the rattle can, on my SDR, it came up looking OK. My  OSSA SDR will never be a concorse resto though.

Thanks John. I've got that one and thought it was bit bright, but if you reckon it's close enough, that's good enough for me.  ;D
I'll try the silver wheels against this one and see what happens.
Mine's not going to be anywhere close to being concourse either (especially with a Yamaha front wheel) so I reckon I'll just go for it and adjust the colour depending on how much I get laughed at............  ::)

Tony this is my favourite frame paint. It's not cheap and it's often hard to find but it's the best.  Rustoleum Titanium Silver  .

Slightly off subject, when I welded new engine mounts into my Hindall flat tracker I needed a rattle can that would look as close as possible to the nickle finish of the frame. The guy at my paint shop suggested Rustoleum Chrome Finish rattle can. It's amazing how it blends in, you really have to look closely to see the paint from the plating. During the week I welded a bracket to my nickel plated Cheney swingarm so I can mount a Honda CRF chain guide. I'll paint it tomorrow and I bet it'll not show up.

Tony I used to buy it at Bunnings but they stopped keeping it because they reckon it wasn't selling because it was too expensive. I Googled the distributor, gave them a ring and put me onto a paint shop in Penrith that had it in stock. http://rustoleum.com.au/  (http://rustoleum.com.au/)
