He says 86 model,but it's later coz it's got a rear disc 87-88?
-
at a glance it's an '88, but that compliance plate looks like it could do with closer inspection.
-
It's legit, I had a 250 with the same compliance plate, but it will also need the engine number changed to match the compliance plate for rego.
-
The plate says 4/86 but I reckon maybe that was the first year of them & they used the same plates on all the bikes that they converted, just filling in the vin & engine # on subsequent year models :)

Pretty much right, mine was an '87, but date '86 on compliance plate. The rego sticker named mine as a "WMW 250" no mention of Honda or CR250 on the rego. The first ones came out in about 1984 if I remember right, and there was some done up to about 1990 I believe.

I've seen a 94 WMW250 - would have bought it, but the guy wanted too much. I didn't realise they went that late.
Oh, and if anyone is serious about this one, they ought to send me a PM. ;)
Edit: The bike looks like its an 87. The funny location of the shock reservoir is the give-away. It's got an 89 seat cover - the colour of the 88/89 plastics should be the blood-red of the seat cover, not the orangey red that this bike has.

Edgar Phipps had a WMW CR500 that was up there as one of the worst trailbikes I've ever ridden. Thereis such a thing as too much. ;D

Yep, either '87/'88. The only thing worth keeping on it is the compliance plates. It looks flogged beyond repair.

That bike is only about 15 mins away from where i am and ive seen it advertised before.

yes couldn't agree more, back in the 80's in vic there was quite a few around. when i got mine it was in trail mode with barkbusters and pipe guard. i trail rode a CR250 with large tank for years until i got my KTM300, gearbox ratio's of the MXer are all wrong as is the power delivery. on steep hills there was no way you could getting going again if you stopped, it was lots of revs and try to feed the clutch so it didn't loop out due to high first gear and no real low down, the KTM easily done with broad power down low and a low first gear.
