Title: GDay All
Post by: enzo906 on November 02, 2012, 09:14:43 am
Hello, I am an old MXer from the late 70's early eighties and can no longer handle the new stuff, I am currently searching for Honda CR's to race in pre 75, pre 85 and evo. The search continues
I currently have a nice unrestored MT250, which is no longer registered and I ride around the farm for fun.
I have restored a 74 XL250 and sold it to a VMX'er
A 74 CR250 which I sold and is in a trophy room somewhere
A 76 CR250 again I sold that too.
I realise these were all mistakes but I was unemployed at the time.
Currently I own a 2003 KTM640 Enduro, that is my main transport and is still going strong with 40,000K's on it
I have a 2011 CR500AF Service Honda, personally imported from USA (Cheaper than buying local)
A nice unrestored MT250 K0 but it has new non original shocks and CR250 1974 model Forks.
I'm ready to retire and spend more time in the shed playing with Bikes but first I need to buy more bikes!!!
I hope I can contribute and help others.
Cheers
Enzo

Gday Hoony
I'm a big bore nutter myself and have been searching for a 88 500 for some time, Gave up on 89 as no one wants to sell. I had a 500RF which I got in October 84 it even had 10/84 on the frame plate. I wonder if that counts as pre 85?
Not just a Honda Man, started on XR75 but when the yz80D came out I deserted Honda for Yamaha Until I bought a 125 and 250 RZ Honda, then a 480 and a string of 500's and now a 2011 500. I think it is a drug?

Thanks anyway for the info.

what xl spring kit?
found a cr 125 74 model fork kit (dampner rods) gives you 7' travel. but that's cheating?
Maybe I put that on the XL I sold all those years ago like an idiot?
I do have a spare set of cr250m forks somewhere, circa 74 (green stripe first model)

Welcome Enzo (or maybe Mr Ferrari ?) "found a cr 125 74 model fork kit (dampner rods) gives you 7' travel. but that's cheating?"  Well no it appears not, 7 inches up front and 4 at the rear are the Pre75 rules. What is done inside the units that doesn't exceed the limits or...change the external appearance* is OK.
* Period or period type aftermarket shockers which may be visually different are OK too. Cheers Tim754.

Still a change of tyres and remove the black rims and it's smicko again ;)

Central Coast NSW

and no I would never do that to a CR500 but I must admit it did change looks 3 times before I decided older bikes were easier on the body
how it came from USA - well almost, I added the engine covers after and the reed block and a few little bits

spare plastics to keep it pretty
(http://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t544/enzo906/cr500/cr500Af-2011_zps8d641cb4.jpg) (http://s1313.photobucket.com/user/enzo906/media/cr500/cr500Af-2011_zps8d641cb4.jpg.html)
and finally I wanted to make a eric geobers replica
(http://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t544/enzo906/cr500/Geobersreplica_zpsc49b246c.jpg) (http://s1313.photobucket.com/user/enzo906/media/cr500/Geobersreplica_zpsc49b246c.jpg.html)

before that gen 3 model I had a gen 2 which I left as it came from the US, I sold it and regretted it so bought the 2011, now I have none :(
