This is what I picked up at a local clearing sale,The guy was into many things including motorcycles judging by the variety of stuff on offer,40 or so vintage valve radios & parts, old oil tins & enamel signs,8 or so vintage cars & heaps of parts including a Holden LC GTR turdrunner that had been brought by the family new & used as there daily driver up until about 15 years ago then parked in the shed, the hammer fell on it at 29.5K!,There were no dirt bikes but roadies,An Indian scout in kit form,A 1914 Triumph,A Gilera frame,A 850 Bimmer & a Honda 50 supercub.

Yamaha fold out brochure,It's bloody huge 700x600 & printed on both sides(http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj529/smed45/IMG_2540_zps3356a399.jpg)
Way cool poster, check out the crowd in the background(http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj529/smed45/IMG_2549_zps2c952f34.jpg)
Pristine program from when Decoster,Robert & co came to Oz(http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj529/smed45/IMG_2537_zps63bda5d0.jpg),I also scored a Hodaka & KLX250/KDX175 brochure as well as some 70s roadrace programs all in all a pretty good booty ;D

The program from the Short Circuit test series at Seymour 74, Julian Wigg on the cover by the way.
I never knew it was promoted as Eastern OZ V's England, even if that's pretty much how it was.
I'd love to know the reasoning behind that.
-
just looking at the cover of the first issue of Trail and track magazine ...is that the correct spelling for Husqvarna ?
-
Good score....should keep you busy reading in the bog for a few weeks. ;D
-
The pic on the International Moto CrossE programme is backwards. The T&T No1 is a great score.
-
I had a copy of the International Moto crosse program (I was there!) Kept it for years and then I a) gave it away b) threw it away c) can't remember. If you had the time to scan it and put it up here it would be much appreciated. Cheers Jerry

I've still got my program from the International Motocrosse Series it's got pride of place on the bookshelf with a bunch of other programs including the '75 500 USGP at Carlsbad. I've also got issue#1 of T&T plus issue one of Dirt Bike, ADB and some other mags. I never deliberately set out to collect this stuff, it's just never been chucked away thankfully. I had an almost complete collection of Sydney Showground speedway programs from 1948 through to the last meeting in April 1996 but they somehow got lost in a move a few years ago. They'd be priceless today, for their research value alone.

Is that program from the same year they also raced on a track built on the infield at Oran Park?
I went to that one.

Yep,17 Dec 1972 ;),The other two rounds were at Basham park S.A. & Calder park Vic :)
-
In event 2, does that say Jim Scaysbrook rode a 125 Carabela? That is unbelievable :o :o
-
attended that event as well, went in my mates father's phase 2 Ho, wot a hoot !!!
-
Hey Smed, how much do you want for the program from Seymour?
-
What a great pick up, Smed! ;D
I love looking at old programmes, just for the names in the entry list.
e.g. Gregg Hansford and I didn't know Bengt Aberg ever rode over here. ::)
-
Good to see Vern Grayson's name in there.
-
Was lucky enough to be mates with Stephen Ireland in 72 his dad had worked with Tony Rule in the auto sales industry and Tony had backed Trevor Flood in a Shop on Nepean Highway where all the car dealers were, called TonyRules motorcycles, Elsternwick. (Only lasted a short while) anyway they had the whole troop their for food and drinks before the Calder meeting. The boys (Decoster and co) flogged a little sl70 around the front car park doing monos and skids. As 14 year olds we were in awe. Still have an autograph sheet with all their signatures.
Funny thing though I went to the races and saw nothing of the bikes as I tried to cotton onto the first girlfriend. Chased Robyn Rhodes around all day like a whipped puppy. Ah at least getting old and fat does cure some things.
-
Here's some more then,Jerry might get his 56 pages after all :)

I've never really bought an old program before so I have no idea what they can be worth.

-
Thanks Smed, there I am in '81, 'C' grade, No 364 on my CR450RB. So long ago I need to prove it to myself these days ;-)

I'm in the 75 program John and gee my memory makes me quicker and quicker as each year passes, only prob is when I look at the list of competitors I reckon they must of quicker too. Good memories of a great time. At least it's something to show the son cos he reckons I am a high class"wobbler" on recent efforts.

There's a few folks on that starting lineup that have had someting to do with the vintage scene.
Gary Adams.....rode a few events at Barrabool on his RH
Gary O'Brien....rode VMX on Montys and vintage dirt track on his Hagon JAP in the early days of vintage.
Jim Scaysbrook....has a lot to do with the Broadford Bonanza and of course his magazine Old Bike Australia.
Vern Grayson....Had a controversial foray into VMX with his Cheney Triumph and Bullys and promises to eventually come back .
Guido Simionato..rode a couple of the very early Amaroo vintage meets on a Husky
Kevin Brown.....Still racing VMX on Husky's. Has won a couple of National titles in pre 70 and or over 60's.
Kevin Flood....rode his own Maicos and CR125 and later one of my Maicos in the 90's...left VMX for triathlons.
(Miss) Ele Knowles...doesn't race but is often seen at events. Was at CD9...hasn't aged a day in 30 years.
Mick Cram...Still around the scene but in poor health. He rarely missed a VMX meeting with his pal Jens Olsen until recently.
Porky Eldridge...as above. Still seen at the occasional VMX meet.
Chris Dixon...comes and goes from the scene. Was at CD9 having a ball.

Have a look at Event 11 on the 1975 Grand National program. Hartwell Club were well ahead of the whole VMX movement! What a gem! J
-
I remember racing against Guido at Wollongong (kembla) in the '60s.
cheers pancho.

Did Guido own JCW Motorcycles in Yagoona?
