i know that the top ends have the same stud pattern with these bikes but what other stuff is similar..ie cranks..obviously they are strokes different but will it fit into a dt175..clutches that sort of thing..thanks..

The DT200 is liquid cooled; the DT175 is air cooled. The 175 had the earlier version of the monocross suspension. I didn't think anything would be compatible! Maybe the hand grips...

i think the DT 200 has more in common with a WR 200

Having spoken to twinrock, there might be some common DNA across all of the Yamaha 125/175/200 dirt bike engines. The missing link between the DT175 and the DT200R is/might be the Blaster.
The thought of a 230cc, pre-78 legal, YZ125D gives me goose bumps.

Try an IT175 D-E top end, stroke the crank to 54mm and use a blaster piston (should be good for 194cc ;))

I'd been heading down the YZ175D path using an IT top end, because with my level of riding ability, I'll be quicker than I'd be on a 'real' 250.
But the idea of going to 200+cc would probably make it a genuinely competitive-at-club-level pre-78 bike.
:)
Plus I own most of the bits already.

where does a IT 200 fit into this?
what vintage is a tri Z 125?. what YZ 125 motor do they use? i know a 175 cylinder fits on a tri Z 3 wheeler engine. i think its the MX/DT 175 cylinder. i will dig up the exact details. DG used to do this hop up.
could be a big bore YZ 125 project for somone!

I didn't know there was a Tri-Z 125!
The IT shares a lot of bits/dimensions with the DT200R/Blaster, but is a significantly different engine (clutch on the left, etc).
Something that had been over-looked is that the DT200 and Blaster have a case-reed engine, so their top-ends are useless for an older bike... :D/ :P
At this stage, I'm keen to get my grubby little mitts on an 85+ DT175 crank. Anyone got one lying around?

Its actually called a tri moto. yes a 125 3 wheeler. probably only in US. i checked my info and yes they put a DT/MX 175 cylinder on the 125 motor. it bolts right on

Was sold here in Oz . Engine was very much early stuff, and the top ends did interchange like the AT125s with the CT175s. 175 was a bit hand to start as they were pull start only.
