Title: XL175 Aftermarket Low Pipes
Post by: Tony T on September 29, 2012, 07:00:45 pm
Would anyone have any pics of any aftermarket low pipes that were made for the early XL175's in the day?
I know you can get repro ones from NZ, but they're not the shape I remember from the 70's.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The Bassani and another one, i thinks Pascoe were most common, looked identical but one finished before the shock, the other finished after, the shorter one gave a lot better low end, the longer one with the baffle out made a lot more top too. These results were from trying both pipes on one MIGHTY XL175 in 1975! One of my favourite bikes at the time and referred to in one newspaper test as "a mild mannered girls bike" believe it or not! Bloody idiots, my stocker with just the pipe and some tyres one MX races against the two strokes locally!!!

Cheers,
Kt..............oh and how about some pics, i only have grainy b&w ones of mine!

Yeah mate.
Sorry I didn't get back to ya. Been away and busy.......... having a holiday at the beach......  ;)
Lots of good info in there, but so far, I haven't seen any pipe that is the same as the one that was on my original bike in the 70's.  :-\
It certainly wasn't a home-made thing, but still not a clue what it actually was.  ???

Maybe, but di all Peter Allen pipes have the 5, 6mm tubes at the outlet?
My original pipe was a basic megaphone with a single baffle.  ???
