Title: Yamaha YZB info required
Post by: Rossvickicampbell on September 24, 2012, 01:12:05 pm
Yamaha gurus - dont have zedder here.  Foot break pedal for the Yamaha YZB - is it common with anything else - I need to look for one and so far the supply is extremely limited.  Also - and this was a while ago I heard mentioned - I believe the MX400B airbox also fits the YZB - can anyone confirm?

Thanks guys

Ross !!!

You can use the YZC or MXB 250/400.You can use the YZA too,you just need to trim a little off the rear corners.

John did your trimmer have the gripper fabric in stock or did he have to order it in? My upholsterer is bloody good but he didn't know what I was talking about when I asked if he could use a gripper type material. If it needs to be ordered, do you know what it's called mate?

be good if the cover was the same shape as th eoriginal but we have to 5mm tapped tabs on the sprocket side edge so we can attatch a plastic cover for racing.

sorry for the delay here goes.
didnt have an allen key with me to take the cover off, but is a 4 helix with a metal male and a plastic female. just bolted up in the same holes with 2x 4/5mm bolts and nuts where the little coverused to mount into.

also think the female outside was cut down a little as it didnt need all the thread as it stuck out.

is the pipe on the MXB also a 2 piece unit like the YZB?  Does the lower section straight out of the barrell fit the YZ if so?

cheers

Post by: Davey Crocket on November 16, 2012, 11:32:55 am
The peice wont fit on the barrell Ross, the rest is pretty much the same, looked at the proto type for the clutch actuator this morning....looks good, he's making the helix for the cover aswell as a bolt in and it will run a XS650 male push lever with the 1T3 p/n....cheap as chips and with the longer arm should have a clutch pull light as a feather, I'm hoping to have the first one to try this afternoon. It's a head fark but will be the ducks guts when finished.
Title: Re: Yamaha YZB info required
Post by: Rossvickicampbell on November 16, 2012, 01:04:29 pm
firstly - bugga!!

Secondly - good news John.  Does the XS push lever fit straight on or need mods?  Or were the mods to the cover side which you are incorporating anyway?

Have my DG swingarm in the queue - giving the beastie a birthday whilst it is so long between rides.  Also going to incoporate a more modern enclosed chain guide with the swingarm so won't have any dramas there also - make the most of the opportunity.

i think you have to just change the inzee pipe fitting to the outzee fitting at the spigot.
Title: Re: Yamaha YZB info required
Post by: Davey Crocket on November 16, 2012, 03:08:45 pm
I'll translate that for you Ross    "The YZB pipe spigot goes over the outside of the flange, whereas the MXB spigot goes on the inside"....it's Friday and it's hot.....dont know what Freaky's excuse is though....South Australian? ;D

Thats good but the one to use has a longer arm on it so the clutch pull will be 1 finger (hopefully)....we are making the plastic screw part and that will come with it. If you have that one, how long is the male helix? Cheers.

This is the first prototype in plastic, the yellow on the botton of the cover wiil have that section removed, its too close to the gear lever. The real ones will be made from 6061 alloy. The clutch feel even with the plastic flexing is way more positive and the lever returns very snappy like a modern bike. There will be a cover for the adjuster. The clutch pull is way lighter, I dont know what they where thinking when they made the originals. Tell me your thoughts fellas.

That reversed fitting looks familiar..... ian it works.

If your taking the bottom section out then take the right end section out otherwise it's going to look unbalanced.
Can you incorporate a threaded section or ability to take one for the lover cable outer.
Can you creat a case saver or derailer in the top section so the chain can't Spool up in to the clutch rod, even if you make it alloy backed onto the mag so we can weld a plate in there and put a hole in the flat for the clutch rod to pass through.
The shape of the 2mx is the perfect design to follow as the shape cover everything and room for the gear lever.  D you have one or seen one ? Suss one out

Davey - looks good - big isn't it  ;D

One question - since the sprocket cover is so important - is it OK with such a large open area?

Also - Yam Gurus - does anyone have a spare LH crank seal they would be prepared to sell - I am struggling to find one.  Have a RH on the way though?

Part number 93103-30044-00.

Cheers

Your probably right the open areas at the back would get a lot of shit stuck in there like sticks and stuff.  I'd be inclined to close those down in size and shape
Title: Re: Yamaha YZB info required

but where from freaky - I use the part number to search which is across a range of bikes and can't find this one?  So if you know where you can buy a pack please let me know?

Be careful with some of those NOS seals those card packs that come up on eBay. I've bought a couple that were so old and hard I wouldn't use them, other times they've been just fine. I guess it's a pig in a poke with this old stuff.

Saw a DT/RT motor a while back where the guy had--had the mag side case sleeved to reduce the outer diameter so as to be able to use a readily available seal, not sure if he'd done the right side also but probably. Suppose that doesn't help sort the clutch pushrod seal but maybe the same could apply if a common seal is found.
