Very nice. There's something about those '78 CR's that screams out sexy..... ;)

Very true Bill, progressive shocks are a waste of money for a bike of that calibre and I've never had a good resleeved cylinder. They always seem to cut the ports inacurately and i end up with a peaky engine.

Thats what i find, John these days you can get cylinders plated for little more than resleeveing and the result is so much better . A decent set of shocks would improve that bike no end .

What is the difference in the forks

There is no difference in 78/79 forks. The '80 model has a bit more overhang past the axle.

Visual difference is 78 has a single pinch bolt set up & 79 has the four nut removable axle clamp,I think the same spaghetti legs otherwise though ;)

78 , 79 have different axle holders , single pinch bolt and removeable plate with 4 bolts
80 models are shorter overall ,same travel but shorter from axle to top of stauchion

Sold today for $4999. The bike was actually sold by East Coast Vintage in the States not that long ago. It appears on the East Coast Vintage website under 'sold bikes'.  Don't know what the original US sale price was. The current seller on ebay also used the original East Coast Vintage photos.
