As fate would have it a Maico landed at my shop today for appraisal/repair.

One thought from the elderly owner is to get it going for the Grand kids and the other is a value placed on the bike such that he can grab a more modern bike fro the 12-18 year olds.

I am concerned to give him a fair price and not cause myself any grief as well....

Can I lean on some quick opinions about the current "non-running' value. Seized rings and that about all I know at this point.

Yep and the Date Stamp isn't stamped but the other details are;

I ended up buying it from the customer....it is growing on me.

One question though ..  I have seen Yellow and Orange ones defined as 73's and 74's.  Was there two colour options or is there Yellow for 73 and Orange for 74?

The frame etc point towards 73?

Here in Canada we could get 3 colours red.yellow & orange up to the 74.5s. Here is a link to a website that breaks down all the american serial numbers, i would think they are the same in Australia.

The available colours were as Maurice said, red, orange and yellow. The colour code is straight from the corresponding years Volkswagen catalogue.

There's something I wasn't aware of....Canada goes by the English spelling for colour, not the American color. You learn something every day! ;D
