Most definitely no repair needed there.

Just clean up the edges of the wound from burrs etc that could otherwise dislodge. I would put a small chanfer on the edges, to make sure the shift cam slides without incident.

Looks like the result of a cluster blow-up Paul :o

then again if your ever going to do it nows the time while its apart.

$20 weld and clean up now and you can forget for another 40 years.
