These Photo`s are from an early meeting at the Wangaratta short circuit track.
#19 Brian Clark, #21 Bert Flood, #22 Stuart Simmons, #303 Ross Nesbit, #68 Rick Wason, #153 Gary Chasemore, #8 Geoff Winzer.

For those who dont remember, Doug Sunderland was an ACU Steward based in Wangaratta and covered all facets of stewarding including road race, moto-x and shortcircuit. I dont think putting oil on the track would be politically correct nowdays.

The guys on the side car are Paul Box ex Wangaratta club president and Matthew Carey.

Great pics RW (Don't suppose you are Rick Wason by any chance).  I raced there once or twice myself .. as I didn't have a car license (or a car)  I would usually bum a ride (down from Wodonga) with either Leigh Corbett or Ross Nesbitt.  Was probably a year after these pics as I had a YZ125F and then traded that mid season for a RM125N and raced that for a couple of years.  Also Ross Nesbit was on Yamaha's by the time I knew him.

Good days .. Wish I could do them all again  ;D.

Awsome shots again RW. Love the sidecar with the saddly forgotten drive in screen behind. Oil tracks, wernt they just golden also. Keep them happy snaps coming.
Cheers Troy

Great stuff, Rick, thanks for sharing these pix and the Romsey ones. By the way , there are still six or so oil tracks still operating in NSW, I started on oil tracks and the occasional deco one, we just changed tyres to suit.

Yeah Simo63 your correct. Glad you guys liked the picks. Mum & Dad kept all of the newspaper cutting from these meetings and I am deciding whether to scan and add these. I also have nearly all the event programs from every race meeting I ever rode in.

Ditto, Great stuff Ricky. I don't have a thing from racing BITD except a couple of ACU licences. I'd love to see some N/E stuff from around 79/80. I bought a fox shock off you guys and ran it on my YZ80G.

Great to see some stuff from Vic. Thanks Rick.
We would have crossed paths somewhere along the line.
I rode at "Wang" a few times,...good track! Post up everything you can so we can all share the memories. I've put some stuff on here. Have you looked at all the pics on here? It's great. I'm in the process of doing some program covers at the moment so it would be good to see what you have ;)
   Regards   Mark

Thanks Ricky, I'm loving these old N/E VIC pics which has made be do a bit of digging about.
I thought that I was all set to win the mini handicap race, when Peter Lee (who started from last) pipped me over the line. This was from around Feb 1980 and I got $5 for my troubles that I gave to the guy that drove me down for petrol money.

On the Saturday we rode MX in Mildura for the northern centre and Dad drove home 7 hours. When I got up in the morning both the 80 and 125 were ready for short circuit with low pipes, tyres and Alchohol carbies fitted and he was pissed off because he did not have enough time to clean the bikes properly.
Now that's dedication to racing.

I said the same thing to Stuart and then he said maybe 1958, hesitated, and then said nah I'm sure it's a 38 model.
Can someone please let me know what year roughly it is.
Rick

I would say mid '70's Rick. It looks like an 84s JAP motor (1975) and the Elstar frame /wheels  etc  about the same(mid to late '70's)

Yeah, Mark's right on the money with the dates of the motor and frame, Rick. They are definately mid '70s.

Where do all these bikes go.

The Elstar JAP will be sitting in a shed with a sheet over it most likely.
Maybe your mate can remember who he sold it to and ask the question.
You never know,......
