Title: Bing advice (now with a photo you can see)
Post by: Gippslander on September 09, 2012, 02:24:19 pm
Hi, have a 72 CR450 Husky and a 74.5 250 MX KTM, both with Bings, both start ok and run well, have been out of action for a while with a smashed shoulder, just spending some time getting the bikes ready for som very slow tryouts :-)

Pulled the carbys, to give them a good clean out.

The main jet and emulsion tubes are different -- see photo -- the top one is from the 450 Husky, bottom one from the 250 KTM.

The 74.5 KTM has a cutaway that faces "downstream".

Here's the two Questions...

Are both setups ok or should I order some parts to "upgrade" the 72 Husky set up?

Where in OZ stocks the usual rebuild parts for Bings.

And I know there will be a few who will advise me to get a Mikuni, yep OK, I know they are good but previously I have not been able to get them running spot on (on a 73 CR250 Husky) and I am a bit shy about trying again when the Bings run so well.

Thanks

Best people I have found for Bing parts are
http://bingcarburetor.com/
They are slow to deal with as they really want to supply the exact parts. Overhaul kits for each kit is the go. The major overhaul kit includes jets.
I found it best to actually ring them.

Les at VMXunlimited has some parts
