Title: Namura pistons ok?
Post by: Gerard De Ruyter (Twistandshout) on April 11, 2008, 08:49:31 am
Hey guys, anyone used 'namura' brand pistons in their bike?  ebay regularly brings them up for my '86 cr250, at half the price of wiseco ($62 compared with $112).  i presume namura uses less quality materials (even compared with wiseco!), but who knows, maybe they last ok?

Yes and No.While there is nothing wrong with them the skirt tends to be a bit thinner,so you MUST keep a close eye on piston to bore clearence.A friend used them for a good while in a 80cc Superkart and never had a crack in the skirt. However Banshee nutters stay well clear of them due to several dome collapses and skirt fractures. With a rebore I would be tempted to try one, some have coated skirts which is a good thing.Notsure if they are as light as the Wiseco pro-lite which IIRC is available for that model CR.
