does any one know of a way to bleach white plastic tanks back to white
-
Tried the soaking in the white king thing, didn't help with removing the stains, it only dissolved the fuel tap and tank mounts! So be aware to remove them first if you try it.
Cheers,
K

or you could ask Michael Jackson what he has been drinking !

Would you want the tank that white but ??? Would the tank need a mask and dark glasses???

See BigKs bit about parts dissolving ,caps mounts nose face...... :P

Just had my 79 YZ tank soaking in White King for the last day and a half. I'd started sanding and scraping it, so it was looking a lot better than what I started with before I got around to dunking it in the bleach. It has cleaned it up although I wouldn't say it's a spectacular difference. It is a fairly diluted mixture though.

There was a post on this on the old forum, if I remember correctly, im sure the tank had to be soaked in diluted bleach but not sure of the mix for about three weeks to get it back to new white, may be wrong, f==ken turks >:( :'(

Caps,
From memory of the last thread it was a 1 litre bottle of white king in a tub with enough water to cover the tank. Wesley bought it up initially. I hope the same doesn't apply to the "for sale" that someone wrote in Nikko Pen on mine. >:(
Mainline is it better to soak in bleach before or after scraping ??
LWC - finally got my hands on the latest VMX Mag. Excellent article on tank restos. Thank you on behalf of us all. 8)

Liquid pool chlorine is bleach so if you have a pool you've already got the bleach I can't spell but I think its called sodium hypocloride or something like that.jimson

progress report- fished the tank out tonight and it's looking pretty damn good. It's been soaking in one of those storage tubs you get from the el-cheapo stores with about 2litres of white king bleach in enough water to cover the tank. It's taken till now (5 days?) to start looking really good, and I did scrape and sand the tank a bit before I started soaking.
I'll post a pic when I get the chance.
BTW, all the fittings were removed before I dunked it.

Go to an industral cleaning products shop and ask there for products like -Hypo stat- or other chlorine based cleaners. Hypo stat is about 200 times the strenght of household janola, if you use it wear rubber gloves ;)
