Title: looking for a Husky
Post by: Ktm181 on August 24, 2012, 12:19:27 pm

Hey Gents,
looking for an early 80s Husky, prefer WR240-430 83 or 84, would look at 81 & 82 as well i guess, want something complete and running/rideable, but suitable for resto down the track when $$ available. NO AUTOS! already got one to ride! (Sydney area would help!)

ALSO, looking for complete running 390 manual engine.

Cheers,
Kt

I have an 82 WR 240 still has the speedo all orginal would consider a swap with cash adjustment either way depending on which Auto you have and if you want to do a swap?
and live on the northern beaches of Sydney.

G'day odd1, any chance of some pics to my email and some details etc? Is it a u.s. import etc?

Sorry the auto is a keeper, my half-brother and i have a few "critters" between us, the 390 has been with us since new and will stay forever, everything else gets rotated from time to time.

Looking for ward to to some pics!

Kt.

no probs mate, enjoy your Husky. I ended up hating them the first time round now i LOVE them again! I got to do some racing on 79 and 80 390 and 81-82 430, seemed i was behind the eight-ball back then, funny how times change, i never did get to own an 83 2st, we had a 510 te in the family so i got to do some club days on that and i loved it, but bastard to keep it going and to start it!

thanks again,
kt

Do you have an Auto engine to swap for a manual engine?

G'day mate, might be a swap in it, BUT it has gearbox damage, i will speak with my partner in crime, see what the go is, he was at Denman a while back and the box carked it again, WHAT sort of manual engine do you have ? Would you want a complete engine swap etc? I'd jump at it, i am over the auto, i never get to ride the bloody thing, hence me looking for another more recent rocket!

cheers,
Kt

looks a nice one too, but it IS in W.A. & $4500, i really would like an '83 or '84 if i can find one, but if an 81 or 82 came up close by at the right price i'd have a look at it for sure. The W.A. Wr is a bit too good for what i want and my budget AND i got a estimate for freighting a bike west to east to sydney .....$850 depending on where etc, so $5k+ is way out of my reach at the moment. NIce looking bike though.

I have a friend in sydney who is restoring the model Husqvarna you want, its being restored to sell, it would be worth or while to contact Zane
and have a talk with him, he does an excellent job. I have sent you an email

Hey Slake! Sorry mate, unfortunately YES! I saw your bike though, very tidy! I REALLY want a wr240 or 430 with either compliance plate intact (aussie) OR proof of previous aussie rego, i want to eventually put full rego on it, hoping for '82 or 83 or 84 & 240 preferrably....had a 430 (2 of them in 81/82 both CR) i'd like a 240/250, i still have a couple big ones for the ultimate thrill, just not Huskies!

Thanks,
Kt

The 83 WR 430 always worked for me as a true enduro bike

BUMP! sort of!

I am STILL LOOKING for a Husky, but only a WR OR XC  with 240 being my preferred, something original, complete and running, dont want a million dollar baby either just a "good old girl" that can be ridden. '81 to '84. I'd consider a 430 too if suitable. It would need to be a least on the east coast as well, tried looking at freighting from SA or WA...too many $$$$$, cant do that.

thanks men,
Kt

Dont think you can unless old enough, biggest problem is only "regoed" on correct club organized runs, or to and from repairs rego inspects etc, i would rather full rego so would need aussie compliance.

I am waiting on Odd1 to come to the party with his!!!!

cheers,

Maaaate. Vic club reg is now logbook driven. You can buy 90 or 180 day rego, ride whenever as long as you fill out the  book. Keh? Classis scramble club w8ll fill you in.
