Title: SIDEPORT HEAD ONTO CENTRE PORT ??
Post by: jack82 on August 20, 2012, 05:13:14 pm

Hi fella's,........I've been given an XL350 centre port donk and am wondering what would be involved in fitting a sideport head to it.....much work or bolt on ??

Also has anyone ever done away with the mag rotor and run a battery total loss system on the 350.......and if so how'd she go??

i've lost track of which head on what b/end XL 350 i run, my 76 c/p TL350 has s/p b/end,& my 74 XL350 has s/port head on centre port b/end,so pretty much all interchanges,just gotta watch clutchcovers,& k/start shafts,you have to swap as a pair, :P

The later model Xl 350 with side port (1974) with XL  serial # not L serial #(1973) . The side port head will fit as the earlier model has a different stud patten on the barrell.Easy to pick the different  year models the cases will have an extra bolt above the kickstarter shaft compared to the 1973 cases.Hope this may help
