Title: KX400 on Swapmeet
Post by: firko on August 14, 2012, 11:20:21 am
As my knowledge on Kawasakis is a little lacking, I ask you Kwakaphiles out there if the nickel plated frame on this bike is original or is it some sort of aftermarket item. My money's on original but wonder why the original owner nickeled it. Whichever, 500 bucks is a good price for a KX400 methinks.

looks exactly the same as standard frame, no idea on swingarm brand or forks, triples.

Not a bad price though, better if it was in oz.

                                                        Thanks Dave.

I almost pulled the trigger on this one (2 hours from home), but I took a deep breath and stepped away from the keyboard (too many projects now).

Looking at photos of KX400-450's I think it is a '76 400 with the stock frame nickel-plated, aftermarket swingarm and Husky or Marzocchi forks.  Still a decent price though.

Yes, std frame. Don't know what the swingarm is. Or the forks - could be later KDX, but not sure

Thanks boys, I was pretty sure it was a stocker going by the birdshit welding on the steering head gussets alone. The Nickel plating, after market swingarm and non Kawasaki forks point towards the bike having being something special during its life. I was going to bid on behalf of a friend but he's hanging for something a bit older.
