Entries are now open for the Evo Challenge to be held at the Lakes. The track is always in top condition and the Trophy races are held on Saturday with Round 6 of Heaven pointscore on Sunday.

Flyer and entry form is available from our website

So all Evo and Pre 85 riders fine tune the bikes and get ready for a great weekend of racing.

Great track, just need good brakes to pull up going down the hills. :D

4 Stroke class is on the entry form ekka, has been run in the pre 78s which helps with the flagging I believe ;)

>:( the poor ol four stroke only class miss out again at this event

Not sure what you mean Ekka the 4 stroke races are exactly the same as always and the entry form in that area has not changed. All the Heaven classes are the same as ran at the EVO challenge in 2009, 2010 & 2011. If you see a problem please email the club and maybe it can be sorted out.

The 4 strokes have been running in the Pre75 session most of the year to even up the flag marshalling session lengths. At the CRC they ran back with Pre85 because of the large Pre75 entry.

As always looking forward to this one. Ankle is healing fast so it should be right...Check. Fitting New Radiators to the Steam Train...Check. Fit helicoil to the head of the RZ so the Spark Plug doesn't blow out again...Check...Ahh.....what else, what else...Oh yes...Finish 'The Silver Steak' (thanks Bob) so I have somewhere comfy to sleep.

Oh, I nearly forgot the most important thing, my better half is coming to this one :o to see me race for the first time :-\ so make me look good OK. I only have to win by a wheel or so. We can mix it up for the first 4 laps but at the end you know what to do, I'll try and do my part which is stay on the bloody thing.>:( The Carls, Monty, Anthony, the Petes, Jarrod... you all listening? ;D

BTW oh haloed Committee members. As we are sharing this meet with the Pre 90 boys (Great initiative! can't wait to see them ride and catch up with them) can we enter their race with our pre85 bike?

I can see it says that "the race schedules will be based on pre-entires" but can you kindly give us a bit more detail on the race programme for both Sat & Sun.
thanks

Mate I was only joking. The paperwork is excellent. I just need to absorb what I read. Could have something to do with my age but I will never admit it.

Looks ok to me. Something that's physically demanding with some decent jumps and levitations. You know.
Like a motocross track......

Saturday will go something like this
Sign on & scrutineering 07:30
riders briefing around 09:30
then Practice with at least 3 sessions
Racing 11:30
Rd1 of EVO races in capacity classes, Rd 1 of Pre85 in capacity classes, Rd1 Pre90, Rd1 & 2 of Pre78 & earlier (youngest group) and Junior race
Marshal change
Rd2 of EVO races in capacity classes, Rd2 of Pre85 in capacity classes, Rd2 Pre90, Rd1 & 2 of Pre78 & earlier (less younger group) and Junior race

The races will be as long as possible and all classes will have two motos much like the Saturday trophy races at the CRC meeting. The exact order of races will depend on the entries to try and minimise back to back rides and to make the schedule flow.
Pre-entry is preferred and if you enter but then cannot make it and notify before 09:00 on the Saturday morning then your entry is refunded

Sunday something like this
Sign on 07:30 for those arriving Sunday
Riders brief around 08:15
Racing 08:30
Basically 4 races per bike again the race order will be arranged to minimise back to back etc.
The day will be two sessions AM and PM with each session split into 4 groups for marshalling

Please don't take this as 'the program' it is only a rough outline to give some info as requested.

Please get your entries in as the meeting is rushing up. Only 11 days to go ;). Entries close this Friday so please act now!  :) Late entries are accepted although that does make life harder for the meeting organisers :(

Yep the track will be open Friday afternoon for camping. Note there is no camping under the power lines in the pit area. You can camp near the toilets/showers or inside the pits against the fence.

See you there and remember to bring along a smile it's going to be a great weekend.
The track will be prepared and watered to its normal high standard.
Racing on Saturday and Sunday. Early start Saturday with sign on and scrutinerring. Don't forget your bar pad and chain guard. If you don't have them, sorry no ride. You have been advised before!!!!

Whats this about a chain guard, first I have heard of it?
Title: Re: Heaven Evo Challenge 25/26 August
Post by: Montynut on August 22, 2012, 09:02:53 am
The 2012 MOMS require a front sprocket cover and rear chain/sprocket guard that prevents easy access to the leading edge of the rear sprocket by finger.

The MOMS also require a handlebar pad or steering stem pad (but not on Pre78 and earlier bikes for some unknown reason).

Almost all bikes after Pre78 already comply as standard but not all.

Heaven requires a bar/steering stem pad for all bikes (we see it as common sense that a Pre75 cross bar can do just as much damage as a Pre85 cross bar)

The requirements are not as problematic as it sounds so give us a call if you are not sure. The rear chain guide on most later era bikes satisfies rear sprocket cover requirement or cable tie, rivet or screw a small piece plastic to the existing chain guide.

This is not new and we have been working through it all year. Don't panic ;D

Neil, This explains it all

After you fit chain guide to bike be careful to leave sufficent room on swingarm to accomodate MA Rulebook Page 26 Section 27 Clause 3 Paragraph 4 Item 6: A clothespeg is to be affixed to swingarm encompassing a sturdy piece of cardboard which must protrude 22mm to the inside of the outer edge of the wheel spokes so as to create sufficent noise to warn of approaching machine. No shit

What a good weekend!

I was a bit... "Bike Challenged"... The KX125 blew a head gasket, the YZ250 did a base gasket, the KDX200 ran out of spark, and I lost the nut that holds the YZ125's shock in.
Got the YZ up and running thanks to a leaf and some gasket goo - it actually ran better than ever, after I bodged it up...

Big thanks to Steve G for the ride on his YZ125G while I was waiting for the goo to dry out.

Also big thanks to everyone who made it happen, particularly those in HEAVEN who knew the sky wouldn't fall if the pre-90s came along for a ride! :)
