They would have to be US imports to be this good!

Seen them last night, I'm restoring one, I think one is the american 85 model had a disk brake front end. ;D I be interested in what they go for.
-
Yeah 1 of them looks like an '85 with the silver motor and disc brake front. We had them here in limited numbers..
-
I saw them last night as well. For sale by the same bloke, bit short on details, but said the disc brake front end is off an 84 250
I'm sure he'd do a deal if you bought both :D
-
Both those bikes are recent US imports, the silver motor one was built by Steve Carrier on the East Coast of the US and is a 1984 model. The other very clean 1984 model looks like one that sold on eBay around a year ago by a guy called Karl Poindexter.
Very nice indeed the both."
-
Steve Carrier had another nice '84 RM500 for sale on Craigslist a few months ago..
-
how good does the 85' look. love it !
-
Since when did a 84 year model RM250 have disc brake front end with a gold rim?
-
I had some dealings with both Steve and Karl when I restored my 465. These guys are both "stand up" guys as they call them :D. If these two RM's come from those stables then they will be as good as they look 8). Interesting to watch the prices considering the market right now :-\.

That's right AdamN a very deflated market at the moment and has been for some time. I guess the high Ozzie dollar has seen a flood of imports hit our shores. A real buyers market at the moment.

r
Rod they never imported 1985 RM500"s into the US and the bike is easy to recognize with all the gold anodized parts on it excluding the rims.I have also had some dealings with Steve and he is a good dude.

The front end is not from a 84 RM250, they had a drum brake.. It's an '85 front end

Unfortunately, if you wanted to race Pre85 you would have to fit a 43mm disc front end from something other than a RM made and designated as a 1984 model
(or)
find the almost unobtainable 84 RM250 front end
(or)
An 84 RM125 front end and modify it internally to deal with the weight and performance of the 500
I'd still buy it though as i've got a few spare 43mm TLS 84 front ends. ;)
Problem is i just dont need anymore bikes, let alone a 500cc 2 stroke!

I'm told that the one with the disk brake sold for 6K!! Maybe the market is still ok for the good stuff ;)
