Post by: riflegreen on July 24, 2012, 03:42:26 am
Hi to one and all ,

Rather old newbie introducing hmself , can't ride now too much arthritis and cancer has reared its head .

Worked for Greeves Mc/s for fifteen years , seven of those in the Comp Department , in that time I worked on the bikes of every rider that rode a Greeves from 1966 to the end .

Actually ended up as the last Comp Manager ( of a very reduced list of riders ) ;D.

Attended all the 250 /500 GP , Britsih Campionship rounds , Trophy & Motocross des Nations . ISDT .

Prepared the last British bike to win the Scottish Six Days .

Also knew all the other Works riders .

Welcome aboard Chris. It's great to have a Greeves insider to add to our online team of "experts". It's always a treat to hear stories from blokes who were in the thick of it as you seem to have been.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys , Jerry I am in Essex , bout seven miles from the old Greeves factory .

If anyone has any Greeves questions I'll try to answer them .

Who was it was in touch with frank Hipkin ?, ask him if he remembers Alec Rayner , if so I worked for him and his sone Dave in their bike shop for four years .

Knew most of the Sprite boys , all from around Birmingham & were big buddies of Arthur Browning .

I put some pics up later on .

Chris
