Title: Broadford practise day 22nd July, it was grouse !!!
Post by: John Orchard on July 16, 2012, 11:46:36 pm
Hey Guy's,  this Sunday is the July practise day for Mitchell Recreation Club @ Broadford.  The weather is looking awesome for the weekend !!!

We (Mitchell Club) just got our books of 12 month recreation licences, so if you need a 12 month rec licence, we can write you up on the morning of the ride day (it covers you for the day); the plastic card will be mailed to you within two weeks.  The annual licence costs $86 and runs for 12 months from date of issue.  Much better value than paying $20 for a one-day job.

Sign-on is 8.30am to 10.00am, first on-track session is 9.30 for Seniors (over 16) with Juniors following 20 min later,

The minbike track at the bottom of the paddock area will again by available, operating with alternating 15 min sessions for Junior 50cc solo's, adult learners & junior 50cc ATV's.

The canteen will be operating from their new location in the building next to the control tower, they'll have the usual .... coffee, cold drinks, pies, dim-sims, hot-dogs.

Mashalling is assigned at sign-on, one 20 min Senior session & one 20 min Junior session for the day; if we get a big turn-out you may get away without doing it  ;-)  Parents are requested to marshal on the minbike track anytime their child is out there; we are riders not babysitters  ;-)

Se ya's there  :-)

Natural terrain track open???

Nah only the main mx track, we don't have enough people put their hand up to officiate to be able to open both tracks.

The natural terrain track copped a pounding from a two-day ATV event over the weekend.  I'll see about putting on a 'working bee & free ride' soon.  If we get enough support we could run a practise day, or two, on the track in the future?

Ok, Friday afternoon, just checked out the track, it is the most perfect condition I have ever see it, graded flat, no mud, nice big contoured berms; it'll be grouse on Sunday!

If the sun stays out all day Saturday we will give it light water on Sat night, we will not water on Sunday morning, we only get about 20 senior riders on our ride days so dust will not be a problem.

Sign-on is 8.30am to 10.00am, first on-track session is 9.30am for Seniors (over 16), after 20 mins Juniors (under 16) get 20 mins, alternating all day.

The canteen will be open selling good coffee, cold drinks, hotdogs, pies, dim-sims.

What a fantastic day out at Broadford today, the sun was out all day, the track was the best I've seen it for many years, there was even loam in spots!!

We had 71 riders today, we split the Seniors into two groups ...  'slow, old, novice' and 'fast race dudes' I think everyone liked it; we'll run that way again next time.
