Gday all,
A question for the TM owners:
What footpegs do you use that have the return spring???
The pegs on my TM400 are Std and the rules to race are they are to be fitted with a return spring????
Thanks
Tim

I'm pretty sure that Les at VMX Unlimited has aftermarket big ones with a spring set up.
-
Depending on which year TM you have, PE footpegs and springs fit right on.
These work and replace the ones with the "pimples" on them, 73-74?
-
I used RM/PE type from the late 70's through to the mid 80's. They fit straight on and with a little "knob" welded underneath the footpeg for the spring they look and work factory.
The only problem with these footpegs is that they are cast and therefore you can't weld wider footpegs onto them but I guess if you purchased wider pegs for the same model RM/PE's then they would also bolt on.
If you give me your email address I can take a picture and send it to you.
Cheers

Not entirely, they are cast steel not cast iron so they are weldable.
You wouldn’t want to put any weight on a cast iron footpeg

Make our own TM footpegs and get the widener's from Ballards. 8)

I know exactly what to do with those footpegs. Have a look at this website and all your problems will be solved...

Thanks for the info guys...
My TM is a 74 and i do have a RM400N who's pegs look like like they will fit.
(Same sort of mounting)
I will look into the PE/RM pegs and Les's website for the wider set.
Simo...my email address [email protected]

Thanks Geoff. I had one break on me a while ago and I thought it was cast iron but I now know better, thanks.

Is it mandatory to have the return spring pegs fitted?????
As the stock pegs do not have this???
Thanks

Fit the early 80's RM/PE/DR pegs (I just welded a 8mm nut to the frame to retain the stock RM spring) the work perfect

So what are you saying 12.8.5.1 doesn't come into play.
-
So my Std pegs "which are folding" comply...unless some one wants to picky and says it needs a return spring???????????

If you've ever had a folding peg stick up with dirt or mud, makes life interesting at the wrong time! Fit springs!
