Title: Note to self....
Post by: shortshifter on July 11, 2012, 05:37:06 pm
If your clutch is not working.....look at the parts manual....Sidepipe clutches have 3 friction plates and 2 pressure plates, not 4 and 3 like later models.....DOH! :P Everything is not entirely interchangeable between models as I previously thought.

Hee hee, found my clutch had a mix of early & late plates in it a some stage, the sidepipe plates are 1.5mm thick & the later model plates are 1mm from memory
The clutch gets pretty heavy & doesn't release properly if you get things mixed up as you've found out

Simo, yes sometimes at great length.Tony I was looking at both plates and luckily thought that the thicker ones would be better.I also noticed that the big plate that holds the clutch plates on is also slightly thicker than later ones.Live and learn.Seems to work beautifully now with a test ride up the road.
