Post by: gra1961 on July 02, 2012, 06:05:51 pm
Anyone had success having a plastic fuel tank painted?I had one done a few years ago but it only lasted 6 months than started to all bubble up.

I used Caswell tank sealer on my IT400 tank and it hasn't bubbled at all in 6 months (1/3 full of fuel in the tank) I then painted it with an adhesion promoter, epoxy primer, and a 2 pac top coat. I painted it last year without the tank sealer and it bubbled within a few weeks  :(

I had one supposedly professionally done - it didn't bubble but the paint lifted within 6 months.

PDS grahics in Brisbane can make a custom vinyl rap which would last way longer and he can put what ever grahics you want on it and any colors....just a thought.
