I just hit the Buy-It-Now button and found the dreaded red "don't sell to overseas" message. It then dawned on me that I've dealt with this tosser before and he's a whole world of wank. Shame.

looks like the same bottom end as the maicoletta. has that gear indicator clicker on the top of the rear of the cases there

. Can any American forum members help me out by buying this for me? My usual guy is away in Europe. I'll PayPal you the $500 +75shipping+some extra for the trouble straight away. I only need the motor shipped to Long Beach CA.
The plan

Bugger >:(...........SOLD :'(.
I'd been frantically contacting a number of American friends and finally arranged for McCook to purchase the motor for me.
We were right in the middle of the money transfer when the bloody thing came up as SOLD. I really wanted that motor for either my Sprite or Metisse projects....most probably the Sprite for pre 65, but it's all for nothing now........
Thanks anyway to McCook, Flying DG and the gorgeous Miss Laurie for offering to help out on the USA side.

i'd love a crack at this one Mick ..... this would be a great roller for my project ... well after we pull that motor out of it.

Amazing what can be done on a computer isn't it?? ;D
Tracked down the original engine, sat in a go-kart, so I bought the thing and put the engine back, start and runs fine, although it won't fool anyone into thinking its more than a 175..... :-\
Nice with the engine Mark!

Damm straight alright ;D you've gone and done it now, the shinny-er it gets, the more it will be going up now :-*

Yeah I realised that Paul ;). I've been hunting one of these for years so I had to go to the extreme to get it because they just don't come up every day. Doug (Flying DG) has been terrific, it's great to know that there are folks like him out there who'll help a total stranger and trust that I'll pay him. Even though I've thanked Doug privately, I'd like to publicly thank him for his mighty gesture. Of course if there's anything I can do for him do in return he just has to ask.
Below is Karl Landrus' 57 model 250 Maico. My motor is similar but 9 years newer (and a 360!). Mine will be used for pre 65 but the frame remains unknown right now. I suppose I should have bought Daves Sprite now ::)

magnifcent. Check out the stand, even that looks beautifully crafted. It's all about the details and that bike is dripping in them.....
-
Yeah Ben, Karl's a pretty impressive craftsman. That bike is as trick as shit yet still looks 'of the period'.
Here's his website.....check out the stuff he makes. http://www.klpracing.com/ (http://www.klpracing.com/)

That's a nice unit.Haven't I seen it for sale on Mark's?Wasn't as expensive as it looks from memory.
-
Firko you can still e-mail me-and that goes for Paul and others as well if you need to buy something "US only"-. [email protected]. Be well-and I am jealous of that engine.LOL

I picked up my oval 360 motor yesterday and this morning I pulled the top end off it. The internals look to be in good order and only lightly used and even the big end is tight. I won't be using the original crank though, I'm going to fit my spare 350 crank to build a pre 65 350 to match my pre 70 350. The rod on the early motor is a bit on the pissy side so the crank swap will add some rod strength as well. I may even use a Yamaha rod and big end. I'll also use a squarie close ratio gearbox and PVL ignition.
The Metisse frame that it's going into is currently at Flowerpot Bens place in the UK waiting for the new fibreglass kit and Jonesy's prototype Sprite frame to arrive. Once that happens they'll all be crated together and sent off to Oz. This is going to be a cool pre 65 project and it'll be interesting to see how competitive it will be against the big Brit 4 strokes in pre 65.
