Title: Removing carbon build up
Post by: evo550 on June 27, 2012, 08:36:05 pm
Further the IT thread, is there anything that can be used to disolve the carbon from the inside of the pipe, ie a liquid to pour into the pipe and leave overnight ?

Try Molasses Brenden! pour in, leave over night and rinse, then next would be Phospheric acid or oxcalic acid, both are rust convertors,

Media blast it, or burn it out with heat (ie oxy torch) ... but with the burn method, use ventilation as it will SMOKE the workshop out !!!    :)

I have used Caustic soda and it works well.Mix it as per instructions.(well, maybe a bit stronger)
Seal one end of the pipe, pour it in and fill the pipe and leave it standing for a few days.
Repeat as necessary.
