Title: Removing Yamabonded gaskets
Post by: cappra on May 15, 2012, 05:37:55 pm
Anyone have a good way to remove center case gasket material that has been put together
with Yamabond. They used to make a product that was sprayed on the gasket and it softend
it up after a few minutes and was easy to scrape off. It's no longer available, due to enviromental
concerns.

Not sure about Yamabond specifically but there are numerous aerosol gasket remover sprays on the market but just be aware they act like paint stripper on the engine cases, maybe spray onto a jar and brush on the effected area

This is the go. Aldi brand insect repellent. Dirt cheap.

Discovered it by accident.
Had a leaky nozzle once and it dribbled every where. So I sat it on the TV. When I went to move it the next morning it had eaten through the paint on the plastic TV shell and the plastic as well. So be careful if you have painted cases.

Personally i will never use Yamabond or Z bond again. Not saying they don't work well in a perfect application? It is just that there are far Superior products, that are a lot easier to work with and remove at future services events.
