Any body out there bought any of this stuff.?
Interested to know if the pants are comfy and wear well.
Oh-and how the sizing stands up-more US or UK sizes.
-
Geez-must be good stuff judging from the replies...............................................
-
Never heard of it where do you find it, if u need I can hook you up with some current stuff
-
Yungy, all the current stuff looks like pyjamas or some death meatl shit.
We just want clean one or two colour jersey and pants with Yamaha down the leg like BITD.
Reign advertised in the VMX mag last issue and is available through VMXUnlimited in Sydney-check it on the web.
Looks like no-one is using it yet.

Judging by the luke-warm response to JT's re-release I doubt anyone could actually think they're going to make money out of retro riding gear. :(
After I bought my jt gear the local shop got some in as stock and you guessed it......"I'm not shelling out three hun'erd bucks for some riding gear when I can pay half that for some Shift (they should drop the 'f' from their name) stuff".........
It's now sitting on the clearance rack.
Sigh.
-
I dont know of reign gear ???
IMHO JT missed the point with their retro gear ::) to me it resembles modern gear more than their gear from the 70s ???
-
My thoughts exactly TM. Still too much 'hot-potch' and not straight to the point as the old gear.
-
I still love the style & quality of my new JT stuff; couldn't be happier.
-
I agree. Just got a pair of the new JT pants and the quality is excellent. Designed for knee braces and have plenty of adjustment for the ever changing waistline! Can't wait to test me out in anger on the track ;D
-
I dont doubt the quality :) just dont think it looks very old school ;)
-
I don't think JT were ever very plain and besides, they aren't going to make money just selling to the 1%'s of motocross.
If people really want old school, King Gee are still makin' overalls...... :P

Or more to the point footy jumpers ;) mid 70's
-
oK so I'll send them a link to this rant and see what they've got to say I 'spose.
They can't be too happy with their 'reach' so far.
-
I wasn't having a rant. Just stating that if one of the best known riding gear companies from the '70s can't get people's attention then I doubt anyone is.
As for Reign. Never heard of 'em.......... :-[

The stuff Montynut has, looks like pretty good mid-80s style to my eyes.
I prefer the Answer retro stuff to look at. NFI about the quality of either.

Reign vmx gear looked a bit boring to me :P
I had a riding top made up from a printing T shirt mob in australia (CUSTOM MADE )
The skys the limit what you want on it , your race number / your name / logos / theres plenty of logos on the net to show your printer.
I just got a cool yamaha riding shirt from the UK with my name and race number on it as well $75.00 with postage ,very fast postage.
-
I guess that means the pre75 era must have been boring Mick.
Yes the Reign range is pretty plain but that is how it was then. By 1976 logos had begun to come onboard and after that the sky was the limit until now when you can't squeeze another logo on if you try.
Before '76 you might have had a Bell logo here and a Bel Ray sticker there and maybe a Jofa chest guard on, Sidi or Swedencycle boots but that was it. Check out the photos.
-
You must have been a rich farmers boy Vaughn...to have proper riding boots in NZ....I was picking you to be more the Fred Dagg type.
-
The gear looks good I think. The designer definitely hit the mark for the mid 70s look. Isn't the owner of VMX unlimited a member on here? I have only read positive things about his other gear so far.
-
I'll just stick to my '63 model black Aero 1 piece leathers.
But they do get a bit hot in the summer sun.
pancho.
-
I got some plain black Metro nylons (sounds weird when you say it) and Destroy in the UK made me up a Martini race shirt and the plainest black AXO boots I could find. Not too much of an effort to look period (Pre 70) I think. I wish a few more would do the same as I reckon it complements the bikes and the whole scene. J
-
I'm with you Jerry-can't go fast but like to look the part.
Now try to find a plain helmet.
-
Clearly you have seen me ride EML. I also have a pre 75 Bultaco and use a period correct USA Bultaco shirt. May yet paint my helmet ala Pomeroy USA ISDT colours if I can find out what paint would not attack my Fox full face. J
-
Only pricks like Brad 090 can look good in the right kit AND go FAST!!! :D :D
-
some of this gear looks good even oldskool type boots gloves and plain half face helmets http://www.metroracing.com/
cheers.

I do have some reign gear. Looks great. I haven't worn it yet, hope to run it at the nationals. I bought it from les richters at Vmx unlimited. They have got the old school look with room for modern knee braces.
