Hi Sammundo, sorry our club has not replied, not sure what is going on with the email situation but will get on to it. The 79 DT 125 is fine to race, if your ts 185 is twin rear shock air cooled, with drum brakes front and rear, you can race with BMCC, however, if your 185 has linkage rear shock, or water cooled, or disc brake, QVMX is the club for you!

Keep Smiling :)

bmcc is the club for your bikes. the great track layout , the grassy pits and the volunteers that run the club all make it worthwhile when we travel down from rocky to race. the little things like showing the current race number on the board near the starter and also being able to view the whole track from the pits is a credit to the club members.

Heya Matt, you can ride the same bike,  however, you will have to change your tyres.

You don't 'have' to change them, you can run the universal on the MX next day and still win. Just ask Glenn Chadwick :D

havee 4 2nd hand michy trials tyres give away for double the dirt

Hi Robin

I have a trials front but need a good rear one for my TM250 as the original Carlisle that was fitted has perished.  It's an 18 inch so a 100/110 x 18 would be great if you have a good one?

PS. Still haven't done anything with that caravan/race transporter idea yet .. waiting to find an aluminium framed van first as the one I was looking at wasn't aluminium framed after all  :(

Cheers

If this is true then I must say I'm disappointed.  I was looking forward to trying my newly acquired TM250 on methanol for the first time at the flat track.  Even had the spare wheels underway so I could just change flat track to MX wheels and gearing.

Bugger  :(

Why? ??? That's disappointing from a dirt track perspective. Events like DTD are good for providing a crossover opportunity for MXers to try dirt track and visa versa. The two events in one weekend concept works as anyone who experienced Condo in the 90's will know.

Title: Re: brisbane club
Post by: tmman on May 23, 2012, 07:22:56 pm
well some people can't get to these meetings thru one thing or another!!!! and if the concept of the SMS vote has been tried befor regarding continuing of a race meet then why can't it be used for more important matters???? this is the era of modern technology after all.. or is it because we ride old bikes we have to resort to old ways writing letters to complain n be heard..we'll all get an email saying its cancelled so why not to have a vote...
Title: Re: brisbane club
Post by: sa63 on May 23, 2012, 07:24:06 pm
I will give an explanation of the demise of double the dirt from one who was at the meeting last night...

- 13 members present  (4 on comittee included) the club has 141 members (< 10 % present)
- last  year 20 came to double the dirt i.e. a loss making exercise, although enjoyed by those who attended, myself included.
- 40 entries are needed to break even.
- it was decided its a good event but promotion has been lacking, esp. in view of the titles this year. its also a bit difficult to find officials for 2 days etc.
- So it went to a vote - 7 against and 4 for it.   Those against dont do the dirt track so fair enough they cant see the point of running a loss making exercise.
- so 7 % of the club (who dont care about dirt track) decided the outcome of an event that those who have done it have always enjoyed !! Pretty ordinary hey!

- it was discussed that maybe we need the dirt track as a stand alone thing without the mx the next day because of inconvenience of tyre changing, 2 day event etc, to be  discussed, and maybe we run an event for dirt track later in the year.

BUT..
its pretty hard to get a day in at North Brisbane club so I think that’s wishful thinking.

the track is booked, I sorted  the free tyre sat arvo changer was sorted in Feb. Admittedly the tyre changer wasn’t there last year, but some ran with trials tyres on Sunday and were surprised how good they were. I changed my tyres over a couple of beers, no rush and that was alright too.

So... the event isn’t quite dead, and can happen but those who are keen better speak up pretty quick and put your money where your mouth is! 40 + needed within a week!!
It can run – even if its a non scored low stress event for those who are keen and those who want to try it.  Im keen..
So the lesson is there--  if you don’t  turn up to meeting the outcome is not always what you want

Double dirt is down for the 14th July, one whole month after the titles surely that would be enough time to advertise and make a call closer to the date.

TM Man is right l will be there, and he's right in saying why aren't these bigger decisions made via text as they are an important meeting for the club? If we can decide to or not to rerun club rounds because of rain via text why can't we decide on these other issues via text, at least that way all members get to have a say, only my opinion........ Pre85 should have been done the same way.......

Hi Brian (or is it Lisa?)

I respect what you are saying because I know how much you and your family put into the cvlub along with the others that I don't know or haven't met yet.  I too like to be involved with my club and I would love to get to these meetings but as I discussed with you at last Saturday's practice (if you are indeed Brian and not Lisa  ;D) for me it's an impossibility.  In fact I recently resigned as Treasurer of the Sunshine Coast 4WD Club, after holding a position on that club's committee for 10 more more years (because like to be involved).  Why resign?  Well I'm just too busy these days.  I'm not complaining in any way but, like most, I work a full time day job but I also own and, with my wife, work in our 2 Eagle Boys pizza shops, both open 7 days a week (in fact I just got home now from working on Origin night).  I also do the paperwork for both businesses.  Then there are the 3 beautiful children we have, eldest just got her L's last Friday (OMG where did the time go??), youngest is only 10 .. all of which play soccer and all of which play musical instruments in the school bands etc.  They are busy kids and that translates into busy parents as I'm sure you know with your tribe.  Then we try to go camping up the beach now and then and we snow ski at least one week per year.  I also attempt to maintain my ever burgeoning fleet of motorcycles (I'm a sucker for a VMX bike), and then there is my small collection of Muscle cars, one of which is undergoing a full restoration at the moment  ::).

Oh yeah and I sometimes get to the race track for a ride too  ... but I'm buggered if I know where I find the time to be honest  ;D

So unfortunately I just can't make these meetings, partly because they are over 100kms away from me but mostly because I just don't have the time.  As I said above, I would love to be involved further but just can't do it.

So again, not complaining at all but I would definately support a system of being involved without actually attending however not if that involves a lot of effort bby the club just to cater for me as I would not want that either.

Cheers
Craig

i am hearing you, we have a hour trip each way for the meeting. it would be good to see more face's at the meetings. any club needs in put from its members whether its via e-mail or being there on the night. without people  puting in their ideas, time and their hard work we would have nowhere to ride.  they are always open to ideas and feedback.I believe this decision should have been given to all club members as not everyone can get to the meetings as you say. I am sure you if this was sent to the committee via email they would certainly take it into consideration.
Brian.

If we can get the 40 + names in a week  its a viable event,

how its run can be worked out. putting my neck out here...but yes it will happen.

its an event I'd be very disapointed not to see happen. one of the highlights for me and unique to vmx in qld.

Its interclub up to pre 85, no club joining fee so put the word out NOW!

keep the names rolling in,  but only if you are  sure you can ride it.

20 riders last year is the ghost that’s hanging over this one.

The dirt tracks nats possibly didn’t help as people had got their dirt track fix, but if you dont support the club when it puts on an event

this is the result.

Im starting the name list from whats been written above, take it off if youre not happy - keep adding:
14 down, only need 26 more..

Good to see the numbers coming in.
It looks very likely we will get the 40 and hopefully more.

At monthly meeting on Tues the decision was made to cancel the dirt track.
To reverse this decision we will have to have  a revote + possibly extraordinary meeting to pass it by the members as it is a club..

I will advise on this when i know how this will happen.

As a club we will also have to decide whether the dirt track day will be stand alone in future to make it more successful.

I can however guarantee anyone who rides the dirt track will have more corner speed on the mx track on Sunday!!

Steve New is threatening to unleash his champion framed methanol burning triumph 750 as well!

Be good to see a few oddballs coming out from the sheds..

I will be there and did so last year, I was alot faster in the corners the next day on the MX track. I even did a Bradbury at the Dirt Track when 1st and second fell off in front of me. Its a good day and we wouldn't be in this situation if Members bothered to turn up to general meetings.
So time its to do it sideways at Double the Dirt in July and QVMX are invited as the interclub. Lets see if those Pre 85 bikes can match it with the Classic MX machines.

Another thing the club could do is expand the list of clubs.  Your allowed 5 for an interclub, why not invite say, Maryborough, Sunshine coast and Gold coast?
It would be good to have a few other clubs.
Just a thought.

I have contacted 5 guys on the Sunny coast, their keen but checking their calenders.
Fruity is real keen.

Your right John, It'll be good to give it a rev.
