Title: Be afraid - Husky CR 500 on eBay

Nice bike. While not as savage as the Silver Streak this is still not the bike you want to ride when fitted with a Taiwanese copy of the Gunnar Gasser whirlpool throttle! A short lifespan is likely after it jams open!  :o :o People should know by now that these things are dangerous -especially people who sell lots of restored bikes.

Interesting name stamped on the barrel - James Newell or the likes. Someone famous or just his Mum labeling his bike just like his school lunchbox?  ;D ;D

Looks like the restorer has done almost every thing.
Pity about the exhaust paint job and how hard is it to fit new frame plugs ?

Be afraid? Yes, I would be afraid to buy that bike. Just another cosmetic fix-up. Certainly not a restoration.
What does "engine and frame detailed" mean? It means rattle can paint job to make it look good on ebay to buyers thousands of miles away. No mention of important items like the bearings, seals, piston, what bore it is on, connecting rod, trans gears, etc. If you can't see the parts, they don't matter on fleabay.

I thought the bikes coming out of this shop were supposed to be OK from what has been coming around?

I thought the bikes coming out of this shop were supposed to be OK from what has been coming around?

So did I, they always seem well presented, and fairley priced.
Huskydoggg do you know something we don't ?

It looks good cosmetically but if the engine hasn't been rebuilt it can be costly..
You could easily throw $1000-$1500 at the motor if it needs rebuilding, I found out the hard way!

They are rusty forks.
Check the closeup of the left side tank.

Yes they are WR forks - short projection below the axle. Swing arm and floating brake are CR as is frame number so why WR forks are fitted is strange. Pity about the stickers being used on the alloy tank. Swingarm bolt is unusual - wonder what it's off? How hard is it to blast and paint the pipe? Didn't bother painting the shock body - springs just rub it off anyway  ;D 10 bids so far and at $3250 but reserve not yet met. Will be interesting to see what it fetches if it actually sells.
