Though not blinged, it can/may give new people to the sport the wrong impression of the bike make.

Depends on the quality of the bling...... if it is CR250RZ with full Fox suspension, or bikes that are Mugen kitted etc, or Maico 490s with all the Wheelsmith gear then the bling doubles their value. If it is just an odd paint job and gold rims then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Its the same with customised anything.

I think the Fox Factory stuff or Wheel Smith upgrades are period correct Mods/Hop-ups that add value. These are the types of bikes I love! Moto-X Fox RM's and CR250's, Team DG bikes, LOP CR250's or an RM125C and Mugen bikes are the cream of the crop.

The 440 Maico would require an entire restore to get it back to a near "original" state. It is a real beauty for sure, but I just like bikes that are closer to the original or period correct, because when the s**t finally hits the fan those bikes will hold the most value, in my opinion.
Both are nice bikes, but the 440 owner added his personal touches to the bike and there is nothing wrong with doing that.

I agree period bling gets happy face.... but the guy who owns the bike gets to do what he wants and the next guy has his own ideas and thats what keeps it all interesting.
Its like then 100+ K Harleys that are floating about, you get about the same $$$$ out of them as a stock bike on a good day at resale time. But the point is you should enjoy the build, keep it and not think in $$$$ terms or resale all the time.

I dont agree that the bling no matter what doubles the value , sure the components may have cost a shed load to buy and bolt on but an original bike in good order is IMHO worth 10 of any chromed up garage tart ;) no matter how thick the make up is .
However if you mean the bike is in original condition like the Maico , but has had the period bling added in the day then yes i will concede that that could make the bike worth a bit more ( as long as it comes with the original parts too ).

That looks like a nice RM 125T :) let down by a non period front end painted to look like a couple of cheap cigar tubes ::)

Not specifically talking about the two Maico's you posted up, I prefer a blinged bike as I will ride it and not hide it. The original bike is destined to gather dust in someones shed for a few to see and admire. If I can't ride it, I really don't want it these days as a general rule.

The value of anything generally has a lot to do with the timing of the sale.
