OK so I'm looking at a bike in the U.S., but I have been told I can't get it out of the U.S. because it's a '91 model.
Australia has a pre '89 import scheme going, but's whats it got to do with exports out of the U.S ?
Can untitled bikes be titled for export??? All seems a bit hard, but it mustn't be, everyone else is doing it.

I believe the pre 89 limit is correct and includes vehicles (complete vehicles that is) from the US, Japan etc.
However it shouldn't comply to race or vehicles not to be registered and should only apply to vehicles you want an import approval so you can register it/them.
Check with the fed govt website here: http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/index.aspx

The stuff about pre-89 relates to road rego. Who-ever told you about it was right, but not for bikes that you aren't going to rego anyhow.
