Title: Big game tonight, Swans v The Giants! Do you pronounce Derby as Derbee or Darbee
Post by: Kenneth S (222) on March 24, 2012, 12:47:48 pm
Looking forward to this one. History in the making. Going out to the game with my dad, sister and brother in law. They're all Bombers fans but I'll go with them anyway, just won't sit near them.

Now, is it pronounced Derbee or Darbee?......

Mostly seems to depend on where you are/come from. In the west they say derby with the emphasis on the e. Enjoy the game; go the Hawks. Oops they are not playing yet are they? :o :o  :-*

On various fronts....Who cares...... Well I might, if the same amounts of our taxes that pay for large percentages the ovals and infrastructures of the major football codes ,was much more evenly distributed across the football playing and watching public. How many millions of  our tax dollars did your local community club get towards its new mega stadium?? as much as your local motorcycle club I guess     nothing .................... ::) :D

I agree Andrew. It was a great night and a fun time to spend with my dad. 38,000+ people, not bad for the first Sydney Derby. Man the AFL and the Giants are slick outfits. Expect big things from the Giants, they played very well for their first game.

Unnecessary.  What stating my personal views on all types of "football" or setting up another AFL team derbee/darbee /derbay in the heartland or Rugby League to try to suck a bit more money, or both.. ... :D.  Ps  born and raised in Vic and know all about suffering the pains and letdowns of footy, I barrack for the mighty  Richmond Tigers..... ::)

Tim 754. Can appreciate your comments in your last post re football and the various codes but why kick KJ222's first post straight to the kerb. He is doing what we have all just done; expressing our thoughts on something that matters to us.
