If I had a die-cast aluminium component, and wanted to make it look like it was rough sandcast, what would I do?
I've been wondering about either crinkle finish paint or maybe some form of heavy sand blasting?
Obviously I'm not expecting it to be indistunguishable from a true sand cast item, but the closer the better. Item will be painted (black), FWIW.

From Model Engineering mag,
some 60-90 grit emery, a drift and a hammer.Place emery on said item hammer away with drift.
