A few pictures from the weekend of the TALMAG trial held in Aldershot. This has been going since before WW2. All pre 65 bikes with over 200 solos and sidecar outfits entered. I've also never seen so many beards and mustaches in one place in my life ;D

Theres some beauties there, you wouldnt want to stall one of those big 4 strokes though. ;D

That Triumph twin at the top looks suspiciously like 1 of those bikes with modern forks etc made to look pre65 which has given pre 65 trials such a bad name. Would I be correct in saying all the other bikes shown are not competitive at most other events even though they actually look pre 65?

From experience it comes down to the rider and sometimes good luck more than the equipment or how much money you have. Every one has their own opinions about how authentic a bike should be. For me as long as it's a good example of what it started out as I can forgive the odd new part. The important thing is that people can turn up to events like this and have fun. Some people cant afford to spend thousands on the latest repro or authentic NOS parts. That shouldn't stop them being able to enjoy what they do have. I guess the bottom line is only one person wins a race so the odds are never going to be that good anyway, no matter what you ride. Just turn up, get dirty and enjoy yourself and who gives a f**k about what anyone else has.

Hi KSI,
Well, I can't say I know too much about Pre65 Trials to be honest, but you have piccies of some great looking British bikes, and an interesting "special". I always enjoyed the Sunday out watching the Talmag with a few mates on a "fresh" (= bloody freezing) English morning.
The Pioneer Run from Tattenham Corner to Brighton (in April) was another event I would always try to make a point of going to.
