That's a good lookin' weapon Tom and I'm sure it'll fly like a demon 8).
And there's nothing cooler than a father and son project.
As much as you're enjoying it I'm sure your Dad is twice as proud to be into a joint project with his boy.
Good onya!
Will we see it at CD5?
-
bikes a good un and you scrub up alright, but your old man's a bit of a dirty worker, tell him to lift his game.
-
Nice Bike Tom and good to see you flying the Flag for Team Red.
MarshallMech has a real smick one of them 125RB's in the Victorian VIPER series and he rides it up the pointy end.
Enjoy !

G'day all thanks for the replys i was starting to get a bit worried cause i don't see many of my bike around but now i have been reasurred there still kicking ;D .Problem with the CD5 situation been thinking bout the problem the bike has with the clutch had a look at the oil the other day and its milky colour back at last years CD4 it did this aswell and i had a spare engine casing at home so i just swapped them over when i got back i think this is the problem every 1 talks about with this bike the coolant eroding through the case into the gearbox oil? if it is do's any 1 have any suggestions on a DIY fix it or what parts do i need :'( any help appreciated thanks Tom
-
The '81 model CRs had an aluminium water pump cover, not magnesium like the later CRs, so it won't be corroded. I'd reckon a new seal is due young fella. They're still available from Honda.
-
Thanks for the help magoo do you guys at Red Devil have any available?
-
Nice old classic racer mate, all class..
-
G'day all i've rung the local honda shop and they say that don't want to play unless i can give them a part number :o the actual part i need is called a mechanical seal set that is in the waterpump/casing has any one got any idea what the part number is or how to get it? ??? much help appreciated Tom
-
The Honda Shop is asking YOU for the Honda part number??!! ???
Isn't that what Honda parts counters and Honda Sales Staff are for - to advise the customer from their Honda database??!!
I'm sure someone on the forum will help with this Tom, but I am f*ckin' gobsmacked at that!!
-
The shop is fairly new to this area and arent equipped to look up the part numbers straight out of a book so they have to spend some time ringing honda and researching but in that time they might missout on a sale of a new CRF so i don't think my bike parts are top priority :D but any one on here that could help much appreciated Tom
-
Hi Tom ,
Try this

Cheers
Noel
-
Tom , you're certainly a fair minded young fella.
If this new Shop hopes to be in business this time next year, let's hope they realise customer service is just as important as new bike sales.
-
Thanks for the info Noel :) , also thanks for the understanding wombat my dad has taught me alot of what i know :D Tom
-
Life's simple Tom, if the pricks at the bikeshop won't help you, don't buy from them.
How the hell are you supposed to know the part #, you're not a bike shop. Luckily, you know someone who can help.
The part number is 19217-657-003. If I need genuine parts I've been using Sydney City Motorcycles at Campbelltown, they are one of the bike shops who actually give a shit about the old bikes. If you want a hand to do the water pump I'm happy to help. If you pay for the parts I'll stick them in for you, I might even give you some shroud and swingarm stickers for the old girl to finish it off.
-
G'day magoo thanks for the info and i'll definately put some thinking into your offer of help and possibley give you an answer at a later date ;) Tom
-
Well done Tom ;)
I also had the pleasure of doing a CR125RB resto for my son Michael. Bloody quick little bike in the end
Be careful when you ride it and ensure the engine is up to temp before thrashing it!!
they had a nasty habit of "cold seizure"
Take "Maggo" up on his offer to fix the water pump ::)
his mechanical skills are as good as his riding!! ;D
-
You prick Billy, you're playing with my mind. You know I'm not very good at either.
-
Mr Magoo sir, can I have some free stickers please? I love free stickers.
-
G'day thanks for all the info fellas the parts arrived late friday arvo now i've been trying to figure out how these seals go in.My instruction manual dosent say how, the biggest seal i have sorted no probz there but the smaller seal thats closer to the centre engine case has to different sides 1 white and the other black so what way is it spose 2 face?does it matter what way it faces? im hoping to wack it all in there tonight to leave time for other repairs 4 CD5 :-[ so any help much appreciated Tom
-
tom, one's to keep the gearbox oil away from the water pump (smaller one) and the other to keep the water away from the gearbox oil. the exposed seal spring on each should face away from each other (99% sure). i redid mine at xmas and both went in ok, but might need something akin to a seal driver. lubricate the inner lips before inserting (the seals with oil you dirty bastards).
-
i get what your saying twist and shout the thing that gets ne is the smaller seal is double sided i think its rubber and the others plastic or a light metal but which way does it face ??? i had the idea that the plastic or metal side would face thebearing on the water pump shaft and the rubber would but up against the other side of the casing opposite to the big seal? can any understand the jibberish im talking? ;D i am really lost to be honest anyways any help appreciated Tom
-
TOM post a phot of it.
-
Hey Tom,
