Title: Paintless Dent Removal for Aluminium Tank - CR250 RZ
Post by: Kenneth S (222) on January 30, 2012, 06:35:00 am
Hi Guys,
As I begin to compile a list of things to do to freshen up my bike for this season, the tank has some rather wide but not deep dents it would be good to have straightened out. Some time back I have used the services of a Paintless Dent Removal specialist on a car I once had and the results were so good I couldn't see where the dent was, in fact the guy told me if I could see where the dent was not to pay him.

I'm in the Sydney area although shipping the tanks to somewhere on the East coast would not be an issue, has anyone used someone for this purpose and would recommend their services?

I have used a hair dryer and a cold rag.Put the rag in the freezer and use the hair dryer to blow hot air on and around the dent. Then use the cold rag on the dent.If it does not work,no harm will be done. Also there is a paintless dent remover on ebay. The add says," it removes hail damage". Hope this helps.p

you can't always guarantee success with this method though - paintless dent removal - as it depends on the dent.  Once the metal has stretched due to the dent it cannot usually be repaired to perfect - but is certainly better.  Had it done to my car once and the guy worked for ages but must admit was a bit disappointed with the result.  He explained because of where the dent was and how it had stretched!
