Title: Vintage Enduro / Poker Run
Post by: husky61 on March 17, 2008, 10:51:20 am
NSW and interstate Riders

In conjunction with the Manly Warringah Motor Cycle Club we will be running a Vintage Enduro / Poker Run on the week-end of May 10th & 11th  2008 at Rockley.

The landholders at Rockley have kindly opened their property to allow us to run this event.

Start with a 3/4 lap of the famous Rockley MX grass track and then its into the bush for a great loop of the property. The loop passes in & out of three stands of euclalypt forest with wide flowing trails and some single tracks complete with flowing transport sections between each forest.

The loop is completed and has been tested. The loop is well marked with directional arrows and bunting.

The event will be run over two days and will commence on Saturday afternoon with five loops and the event will finish on Sunday morning with five loops.

Each rider will receive a card on completion of each loop. The riders with the best poker hand on completion of their five loops win the card game.

This is a novelty event , not a race

Modest prizes will be given for the best poker hands.

This event is open to Classic motor cycles & will be a pre-85 event "meaning motorcycles manufactured before 1985"

The event will cater for
Enduro Bikes
Trials bikes
Trail Bikes
Motorcross bikes (Only if fitted with headlights) "No headlight on MX bike no Ride"

Camping will be available on the property

Portable toilets will be provided

You will need to bring all your own food.

It is usually  very cold  in Rockley that time of year so warm clothing is essential

Come join us for this fun event at picturesque Rockley,  this will be an event not to miss.

More info and entry forms soon.

MMMM. I may just have to polish up the old IT465 or keep the For Sale PE400 now that Vinduros are ready to take off in NSW. Expect a strong KK presense at this one Rob. Anyone who hasn't been to Rockley before will love the place. Great news.

I have had 31 calls since the initial post 18 / 03 / 08 , and thank you for you enthusiastic responses.

We would like to clarify the following:

Motorcycle registration will not be required as it is a closed course / private property.

Headlight on MX bike does not necassarily need to be operational

No tail light is required

I have two spare used  preston petty headlights i could lend  to MX bike riders as required .

Wow.
Bring what you brung.
If it doesn't come up to spec - borrow one of these.
No licences to worry about.
Not one word about noise levels.
Just go out and have some fun.
Is this the future of Vintage Dirt Bikes?
If so... ;D

Ribbo/Shoey
I notice that you need a headlight for your bike to be in the poker run so I have an old eveready dolphin that I used to use on my Huskies(poor lights) if I strap that on the Bandido or the TM 400 can I play with you boys at Rockley????? and I would never change arrows or move tapes on the course as some people have alledged before and I am a changed man seen the light...no drinkin.....no swearin.....no fartin.....no snoring......no putting shit on non Husky,Bultaco,Suzuki riding nancy boys like magoo....ask Andrews he is bunking with me at CD 5.
I await your reply.
Harro
PS The publican from Rockley has moved to Trunkey Creek so I am safe at the pub!!! no wanted posters

We really dont mind if you use a coal miners hat , as long as it it is firmly and safley secured to the front of the bike.

The front is the end with the handle bars.

A changed man  :o :o :o :o , what , giving up fart , swearing , drinking and snoring for comedy are we.

Your picture is still behind the bar , so the pub is still a no go zone for you.

Harro, i didn't see your mugshot on the wall (unless you changed your name to Chloe) at Trunkey Creek pub, maybe after the poker run it will be re-posted, they had a nice Kent Brown Ale on tap there, and a super meal as well. We spent the weekend putting up arrows and clearing the loop, as long as we get some rain (it was pretty dusty there on the weekend) it should be a good loop for vintage bikes, even those with down pipes. ;)

67,
I met with Kevvy and the Bandido is in the shed :) :)I am glad that the event will be down pipe friendly!!! however I have secured a Bultaco Sherpa to keep the Bandit company and will use it at Rockley to plod around on.
Big kev tells me there are topless barmaids at the pub on the Thursday arvo for our warm up drink...I might catch up with you before hand for a Bandido/Sherpa tune up!!!!

24th and 25th May are getting pretty close.  Any news with the Rockley Vinduro ?  There was lots of interest in it amongst people I spoke to at CD5, and my 400 Qualifier is raring to go.

Is there an entry form in circulation, or do we just turn up on the day ?  Anything else we need to know ?

Cheers,

Martin  :) :)

Hey Martin

Yes the Rockley poker run is still on.

We are currently finalising the event licence with MA.

To all riders interested that do not have a current competition license you will require a recreational licence. We can provide the Rec. license but will need to know prior to the event as we purchase the rec licences from MA.

The event is still on the week-end of May 24th and 25th.

Pre entry is our preference  but you can enter on the day. If you enter on the day and require a rec. license but have not previously advised us of your intensions you will not have rec. license reserved for you therefore you will not be able to ride.

Camping is available on site

Portable toilets are available

Bring all your requirements for shelter , food and the fresh water you require for drinking.

Entry forms will be available on the Manly Warringah Motor Cycle Club web site later this week.

Remember bikes must have headlights (no they dont neccessarily have to work) MX bikes with headlight fitted are very welcome

Prior to entries being received if you wish to reserve a rec. licence , email me. My email address is on this topic.
I expect if we purchase a rec. license and it is  reserved for a particular individual and that individual is a no show, we would still expect payment for the license . as previously stated we are only purchasing enough licences for confirmed event entrants.

The event entry fee will be $50.00 which covers both days.
The rec. licence fee will be $25.00 which covers both days.

Prizes will be presented to the three best poker hands on Saturday

Prizes will be presented to the three best poker hands on Sunday

Email me with any questions

Regards

Rob

Newsflash. The Rockley Invitational Game Fishing Classic was held on the weekend. The Gun, Victor Drew lost a close contest with No Fish, Ribbo struggled hard but was empty-handed leaving 67Husky the winner with two (2) magnificent rainbow trout.

For the uninitiated - can I get some directions to Rockley from Sydney?

Rob are you sure your 'magnificent rainbow trout' winners weren't Carp ringins painted up to look pretty!
Can you make the direction instructions detailed so that a late night Friday trip will still be able to get us there (from Bathurst).

Is it quicker comming from Sydney to go to Oberon and accross to Rockley or go through Bathhurst?
Title: Re: Vintage Enduro / Poker Run
Post by: maicopunk on May 15, 2008, 09:45:50 pm
Rudy,
It's quicker to go through Bathurst.

Going through Oberon is shorter but the road is rough and you'll probably get lost in the bush and have to spend the night with a family of banjo players... which is fine if you're into that sort of thing.

Knowing Rudy, that's exactly what he's after. He'll even bring his own canoe.

I think Magoo is correct that YANK Rudy would fit right in at Dog Rocks Forrest

Hey Guys

I have had alot of informal entries but only a few offical entries to the manly club.

Who's coming and dont forget to reserve your rec. license if required.

Entry on the day is OK but its easier for all involved if you pre-enter.

Bernie, Jonsey and I will be there for a bit of Klub Kevlar cheer Shoey. I'll take some photos while Bernie and Alan are still deciding whether they'll ride or not. Can you imagine the monococque Hagon with a headlight?

Why is there always a Deliverance reference?

Magoo... you bring the bow and arrow, but you have to play the part of Ned Beaty.

I never get lost thanks to the little wowan in the box hanging from the windscreen.

GPS is like having a portable wife - always telling you what to do next, where to go and never give any more than she has to...

Cant wait for Saturday night... lots of drinking, lots a fighting and a lot of sex - and its just you an me Magoo.

Now which way is quicker?

Hey Guys

Went to the Manly Club meeting last nite.

All arrangements are set for the Poker run.

At this time we have 30 entries.

Any riders that have not entered and intend to enter on the day , if you require a rec. license i would suggest you let me know in the next day or so . Sorry to harp on the rec. license issue but i dont want any one to be disappointed.

Riders who have already made contact regarding rec. licenses need not worry as your licenses are reserved and will be waiting for you at sign on.

Also there will be a BBQ at the camping area which will be available for people to cook on. But please bring your own food.

If you intend to arrive on the Friday evening , on arrival at the Property please follow the sign up to the area designated for camping /pit etc.

Dont forget warm clothes, camping gear and all your drink/food you require.

Regards

I wonder what other 'exotica' will turn up this weekend, bro is on his blue Bul Frontera and he's loaned me his TT500 (with my KTM headlight).
I think Moto (Cullen) will be on the ever faithful Bul Montadero 360.
What else & who else?
