Title: Another RM125 for me!
Post by: gerpster on March 15, 2008, 07:04:58 pm
I just bought this as a parts bike to go with RM125D in Brissy.    :o

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220211025026&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

Hopefully I can salvage some stuff off it. Thought it may be cheaper than shipping stuff in from the US. Am still missing the airbox!!!!    :-[

Ummm well I paid a bit more than what was on bid at the time but I think for what is there it's still a good price...mostly was after the suspension, wheels and engine bits..tank and forks look ok too.... ;)
Will be an interesting project..
First job is to actually get them here!!!    ::)

This one is a 125Z(1982)Many parts are interchangeable.Carby, radiator,  reed block, head, barrel can be used on D with only minor porting changes-(81-84 were all same bore and stroke),but81 and 84 were case reed induction, while 82 &83 were like the one in the picture. The centre cases on the 81,82 &83 are all different as the crankshafts are all different. The 83 was the first of the 125 RM's with compression adjustment on the reservoir. The 83 swingarm is longer than the Z swingarm but otherwise identical.Really there is no notable difference in the airboxes. The 83 chamber and silencer is different to the 81 &82 which were interchangeable-I learnt these things from doing a ground up resto and am happy to help with info and parts if I can.PM me .

I just noticed the 125D you bought has the twin leading shoe front end off the 250D on it-the 125D was single leading shoe, going to twin leading shoe only in 84 on the 125E. I have a correct 125D front end that has been rebuilt by Mr Pons-sell or swap? PM me if you like .Thanks,Bill.
