I have decided to do the pre '78 Nats and while I have my pre '78 bike organised, I'll take a pre '75 bike as well, but which one? At the moment in front of me I have 3 to choose from: '74 Can Am 250 MX1, '73 Husqvarna CR250 & '74 Kawasaki KX250. I have a '74 Pursang 250 (the actual bike in the Shannons ad) but it's staying put because I'm not keen on right side shift. Which one should I take?
Cheers,
K

I would like the KX 250 Michael, fast bike and very light to ride.
-
Nice choices but would go with Kx250
-
Have to be prejudice and go with West Aussie's Jimmy Ellis CanAm 250-the winning stakes ;D
cheers us2

The Husky or the Can Am, the KX's were'nt that good in 74 why would they be better now?

The one that is going to give you most greif on the start line ;D
so I have a better chance of being in front of you.
My personal choice would be Kx 250.... purely because I had one in the day.
-
Which one are you faster on?
Then to give the rest of us a chance leave that one at home ::)
-
the Canam, just because you have one and not many others do.
-
yep...One Can Am with John Boags at this years South Aust Classic Nats Titles and and two others at Qld Classic Nats Titles the year before all pre78.....yep Can Am 8)
-
take them out to ravo with a stop watch ;D ;)
-
I'd go the Husky or Can Am, like Gary said the KX's were never much good, i don't know why people now think they're a great bike.
-
Kawi...
-
Well duh - the Canam of course :D
-
What a bugger of a problem to have!
Whatever you choose, you'll enjoy it, Michael!! 8)

Can Am. There is something about the Can Am that is cool 8)

It does matter wheather they are good in their day or not, I have race all four, Kx then Can-am both are quick bikes.
-
K if you are taking the pre 78 Husky then make it team Husky and take the pre 75 Husky as well. Co ordinate your riding gear etc and have someone take plenty of pics to remember the day.

The Husky looks to be taking first place at the moment. I have a nice '77 390AMX on the way now, plus the '77 360 engined CR and I do like my Husky's. The Can Am is fast but a bit revvy for my style and it would probably be a shame to take the KX out of the "museum" and ride it. I raced a mag 250 a few years back, liked it but I reckon the '73 engine has a wider power spread and is a bit more versatile. There's still a while to go and no doubt I'll probably change my mind a few more times. It won't be an Elsinore even though there's a couple here, I don't have a TM but there may be a silver & red bike in the pipe line. The Phantom & Monty have new homes. Then again I could always go for a big bore. I used to indecisive, but now I'm just not sure! Thanks for the input guys, it's interesting for sure.
Cheers,
