Title: Best and quickest way to get rid of a car

Need to sell the car. It's on HP and I need a solution quickly. Am on Sydney North Shore.

I guess it depends on what it is and how much you need to get for it, Tim.
Dealers will offer you next to nothing, if they'll take it at all.
Maybe www.carsales.com.au (http://www.carsales.com.au) or good old eBay simply because it gets to lots of people.

What sort of car, Tim?

2001 Nissan x-trail. 150K on the clock. Good condition.

I don't know a lot about the Sydney market, but maybe list it on eBay or car sales?
I've had bikes sell within 24 hours on both of these, by Buy it Now. But I've also had a bike not reach reserve when it went to auction.
Hopefully there's someone more local with a bit better knowledge than me.

Put a Toyota 4wd (nothing special) on Ebay about 6 weeks ago, sold in less than a minute for the buy it now price!!! Was picked up 2 days later, payment in cash, it can't hurt to try.
If it's under HP you will need to get onto the Finance Co and do what they say on the sale to make real sure it's paid out, sh#t hits the fan if not done properly.

Have a look at what they are generally advertised for, then put it on the market for at least 10% less, should go quickly.
A dealer will likely give you at least 20% less than this, so even selling it for less than you wnat privately will still put you way ahead of the price a dealer will give you.

It is a crap time to be selling cars though, at least an XTrail is typical so shouldn't be too hard to sell.

Try your local gumtree.com.au too, seems to be much better for off loading cheap stuff but given the adverts are free it is worth a shot.

You can sell it as a bike hauler - I know you can get a YZ125H in the back of one  ;D
They are actually quite a good car
