Well its my turn. Woke up to the open shed door to find my Vertemati 495 gone. Very rare bike, 1997 model in very good condition. Blue with a black rear guard. Cut through chain and proper bike cable.
Thank god that's all he took.

Pricks.......I hope they catch the vermin and you get the bike back ASAP Brad.
-
beef up the security( alarm) on the shed now the rats have seen what you have in there bud
-
Yeah doing it today bud.
-
Sounds like they were pretty selective?
-
Brad im very sorry to hear that mate , i hope you get it back real soon. Mate have you considered a Dog as security , i know there a pain in the arse but a mean dog is i still believe the best deterent .
I wonder if it was stolen to order , or just some oppertunist scum bag who took what he considered the most modern (valuable sellable in his eyes ).
Mate i really feel for you , its a mongrel thing to happen.
-
I wonder if it was stolen to order...
I reckon you might be onto something there Bill. Brad put up some images of the bike on Facebook last week.
The timing seems very coincidental. A warning to all of us?
Hope it turns up soon Brad, it won't be easy to hide.
-
That one should be real easy to hide/sell .
Will keep an eye out.
-
I am also very sorry to hear about this. I have had bikes and gear stolen in the past, so I know how it feels when you find a door open and things are gone. But it could well be a big wake up call to all of us about Facebook. I have only just started to get involved with Facebook and recently added some pictures of my bikes. I think that I will now go back and delete them . Being a motorcycle enthusiast, it is only natural to want to share your passion with like minded people. This forum used to be pretty good for that , but has suffered a bit of late with lots of topics with no connection at all to bikes. But at least there is some degree of anonymity here, making it a little bit harder for thieves to work out who you are and where you live.
-

Go through the security and having friends only and your profile, photos ect locked off.
Never say where I work or my location on profile page.
cheers A
Actually does anyone know where my geographical local is ? 8)
-
I couldn't agree more , i briefly dabbled with facebook a couple of years back but decided it was not for me privacy being the main reason .
When i tried to delete my account it was a major drama and all details were held for a year so i could reinstate the account at any time.
Back to the thread
I really hope that Brads theft is not realted to the FB thing . Brad is it worth contacting local gangs , it may cost you a few quid but i have found from experience that they are a lot more succsesfull than the police at getting things returned . I know some will say thats bullshit and encouraging crime but these people have better resources and are not tied to rules to get results .

i only post bike p[ictures but never say whos they are and usually dotn mention there mine.
As you may have noticed I dont event post pictures of my bikes on here, and if so very randomly and without much information.
-
Sorry to here about this Brad and hope they catch the person or person's involved, lm guessing that was what the text was about this morning mate , sorry l couldn't open it. Electrify the shed that'll $#@% em. Good luck getting it back. I got one back after six year's of being missing so here's hoping you get your's back way earlier than that...
-
my mates bike was suposed to have been stolen by a bloke called auto lives in edens landing has 4207 tattooed on his knuckles, logan police have a list of 13 stolen dirt bikes in one week supposedly stolen by this f@#$ing little c@$t but same bullshit from the coppers we know who it is but can't prove it.hope you get it back cheers.
-
Would your mate be Alex? and Tracey? Any more info on the 4207 guy? An address will do.
-
Brad, I've had two moderns stolen a few years ago & it sucks, but you dont let it eat you up. Just hope crash karma gets to the theiving pricks!
Anyway as regards Facebook, a customer of ours got his two minibikes piched just recently, his secetary decides to ask on Facebook if anybody spots these bikes (picture posted), next day a reply saying some low life's have been riding up and down the street on those bikes, cops called, bikes returned, low life's nabbed for drugs & money & stolen property!
First time I've ever heard of a good result - but it did happen.
Mike
-
only info i have is his name is auto he's a drug dealer and thieveing scum lives in edens landing has 4207 on his knuckles apparently some scum gang tattoo and he hangs around the beenleigh skate park on occasion but not so much now after he was seen and chased riding my mates bike there.my mates name is mat owns mad clown industries makes t shirts and stuff sponsers mx riders and race cars and does a lot for local young bands.cheers.
-
Usually the little pricks will have it stashed in the bush some place and ride it until the gas runs out or battery goes flat or something .... given how easy it is to identify I think it will finally come back, usually with shitty camo paint job.
Offering a reward for information will usually have Autos 'mates' fingering him faster than you can say 'next meth fix'
-
Any sightings/news.?
-
No. One thing is for sure. It was a random guy and not someone I knew targeting the bike. My neighbour realised someone had a go at getting into his shed as well. He wasn't successful there so he then ended up in mine.
-

-
Sorry to hear about this Brad.As you said lucky thats all they took, but they might be back. Some people are oxygen thieves,f@#$%^&g arseholes.Interesting bike never heard of a Vertemati bit like a Vor?
-
Vor = vertemati off road. First of them. Über trick for 1997. Gear drive cam, cassette style gearbox, no air box, hydraulic clutch, frame bolts together, marzocchi front and ohlins rear. Would have been the coolest pre 2000 bike....
-
Them's fighting words Brad ;D
I reckon my 99 Smetts FC600 would give it a run for its money! ;)
My biggest worry is that some scumbag does to me what they did to your VOR.
-
Was this bike ever recovered?
-
No mate . Not even a sighting
