I've had an old Star brand suction gun for as long as I can remember, but it decided to jump off the bench a while back, landing on it's nose, so I reckon it's time for a new gun.
Now I'm no expert when it comes to painting, but I seem to get by somehow, and like most, I'd rather not pay a heap for something that realistically won't get used more than a few time a year at best.
I think it may be better to go with a small capacity gravity gun this time around, I won't be using it for anything much bigger than a bike frame or tank.
Would such a gun be capable of spraying say, 2 pack for a frame as well as metallic acrylic on a tank?
Are the general sub $100 guns you pick up anywhere these days be worth buying? or maybe go for entry level Devilbiss such as this
Ebay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150702237676?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Mx , I'm no spray painter by any means, but I give the toilet bowl a good work out in the morning.
On a serious note.... for general purpose painting of frames and motors I use a W 77 G . It's fully adjustable and comes with a cleaning kit.

mx the star spray gun is a good gun .if you want to go gravity feed gun and you want to spray acrylic and 2pac you need one that has two different size tips i think its 2.0 four acrylic 1.3 four 2pac i will check my gun and tell you what size it is four 2pac .one is a finer tip

I bought a cheap-ish star gravity gun from trade tools. Good instructions, easy to set up and use. $100-ish from memory

Talk to BigK, his paint jobs are better than factory, and i'm sure he would be able to point you in the right direction.

I can't get parts for my old Arnold / Devilbiss spray guns anymore, although I picked up a $15 Arnold that had been used once, at the markets. But I was in the same boat as you. I ended up with the Star gravity feed from Qld trade tools for around the $100. I inquired about parts and also they are available the bloke said that T.T. doesn't stock them as the kits cost more than the gun so just throw it away and buy another. I have seen the same model Star sell for up to $270 elsewhere. I've used the gun with acrylic and It's great and works well. A pro painter painting Ferrari's might beg to differ.
