Brad Pitt, Jay Leno, Rob Ianucci.....owns one which gives you an idea of who you may be bidding against. At the moment it looks pretty cheap by Vincent standards, you could never really spend too much, one of very select group of production motorcycles that constantly appreciates. Note I said production, factory racers seems to always appreciate. It is smart investment.

One of my mate owns a Vincent works bike one of 25 made and only about 20 left now. He has a very nice collection of all type of bikes and tells me next year he will bring his KX collection to CD.

Each to their own. But a sale ain't a sale until the money is in the bank ;).

Far out, what does that make black shadows now? 150G? I remember when they were going for around the $40,000-$50,000   a bit over 5 or 6 years ago and how guys were buying them for under 10G 10 or 15 years ago. The value on these Vincents are really sky rocketing with no sign of slowing down. The reserve on that rapide was about right but to almost double it is impressive.

$86.5K Kiwi dinaro's.
That's about $25K Aus, pretty reasonable I reckon. ;)

A friend of mine got 42k for a fully restored but humble 500cc Comet a few years ago. I like them but not that much. Think how many Vincents were chopped up to make speedway sidecars in the 50's ???

And how many Hagons were broken up to put engines in TQ's or WLA's were thrown out because they were heaps of shite and no one wanted them.
That is an amazing price.

If it had gone over 100K it would not have surprised me, I think that price was far from unreasonable for what you were buying. You could spend that on a new Commodore HDT and only get 1/2 of it back a year later, I mean I can remember when XYGT Falcons got 15K but they sure as hell don't now.

There are plenty of people in NZ who have dropped way over that into Mustangs, Hotrods etc..... there is still a lot of big money about when the good toys come out for sale.

The day I went for my road licence on my mates C11 BSA, another young bloke got his licence on a Vincent 1000 that he bought for 50 Quid. My pushbike cost mum 5 Quid.
 Cheers pancho.

I notice Ginger Molloys $44000 TSS Bultaco didn't sit about for long. I also know of a not very original TZ750 that went for $135K in NZ a couple of weeks ago.

The classic road race bikes and classic British guys tend to be older with more than a little cash to throw about.

Jim Scaysbrook just went to look at 15 mint Vincents in one private collection. No doubt a feature will follow in old classic bike

Gee only 15 that must be a bummer. Its amazing what is about, there is a guy in Victoria with a mob of American early stuff ..... Crockers, Hendersons, Cyclones, Indians, lord knows what that would be worth.
