Gentleman,
The Toowoomba Motorcycle Club is pleased to announce that they will be conducting a Vinduro at their Murphys Creek property on Sunday 19th February, 2012.
This event will be non-competitive and open to all Pre '85 Enduro, Trials and MX bikes. In keeping with the spirit of Vinduro, MX bikes should be fitted with a headlight and a decent muffler. Flow on model eligibility will be at the discretion of the club.
Gates open at 1pm on Saturday and camping is available and encouraged Saturday night. Come early, show off your bike(s) and bench race about the Olden Days. There will be no riding on Saturday though.
Entries will be taken on the day, starting at 7am Sunday. Riders Briefing will be at 9:30, and first bikes will leave Parc Ferme at 10am.
The club is aiming for a 20km loop, with nothing too difficult included - the idea is to have fun on your Vintage Enduro bike, not to test your riding skills!
So bring your bike, bring your smile and have some fun!
;D

Awesome.............

That is a great start to 2012 !
-
Well done!, count me in. Anyone got a headlight I can borrow?

If you get stuck Paul, I've probably got a spare old PP you could borrow - ugly as compared to your beautiful YZ125, but it would do the job!
Alternatively I could loan you an aftermarket IT400C style headlight, but you'd have to drop your forks out to mount it around them between the triple clamps... ;D
-
Count me in to fly the husky flag. PP light available Paul here also so you should have plenty of options on the day. BYO zip ties! I expect the PERM to be on show?

Will this event be advertised on MQ's web page ?

Thanks Tony, after reading the thread I was thinking on the way home which bike/bikes to take? mmm.....

Thanks Steve, I dunno if referring to it as the 'PERM' is a good idea though, takes away some of the aura built up by the 'Mighty PE'. Hoony might even be game enough to ride it if it's called the PERM ;D
It'll be there, the YZ not so sure. Might bring it up and see what the track, oops, sorry enduro types, the loop is like ;D
-
Sounds good - is an MA licence required for this event?
-
yes, but one day licences will be available on the day.
;)

Same day as the sign on practise day for BMCC bugger, l wonder how an XR headlight would look on the mighty CR????? MMMMMMMMMM

Xr headlight on the CR will look great. ;D
We were going to have the Vinduro on the 26th, but moved it to the 19th to avoid the first QVMX round. I did try and contact BMCC to check for any clash. Left a few messages, but noone called back.
-
Mmmmmmmm Might have to drag the old Tenere out and come down for a chug around. 8) Darcy
-
Come all the way to Brissy Darc, we can trail ride all the way to Murphys Creek, about 140 klm's, bloody good ride to.....
-
OK, I'm going. Been on the phone talking it up, got a bit of interest.
Whats the address?
Cheers
Noel

OK Gents, sorry for the delay getting info out to you all, but there were a few little problems that needed to be sorted out (we had to shift properties).
The Vinduro at Murphy's Creek is now full steam ahead.
Flyer will be posted tonight, along with a map showing the area, but:
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Toowoomba Honda Murphy's Creek Vinduro will be held on Sunday, 19th February 2012 on the property at 274 Penderests Road, Murphy's Creek.
The property is located approx 2km behind the Murphy's Creek shop. Follow the Honda Enduro Arrows from the Shop. If you look up that address on Google Maps, the camping and start area will be on the large open grassed area beside the two dams, just to the north of the house.
Entry fee is $40 (including the $5 MQ Levy) and MQ Recreational Licences will be available on the day at a cost of $20.
As I said, Flyer and Maps will be available here tonight.

Would imagine he'll be there. :) Not far for him to travel.....
-
You rekon they'll let me ride my 86 Tony ?
I have nothing else ready at the moment :'(
-
Hi Mike,
Yeah, your 86 will be fine.
Bring it along and have some fun!
-
Mike's post raises a good point.
The supp regs, and accepted vinduro rules say 'Pre 85', but.....
Both the Clerk of Course and I are believers in the old Dick Mann quote..
"if someone turns up with an old bike in his truck, entry fee in his pocket, and a good attitude, he'll get a ride that day"
Don't turn up on a modern bike, but if your bike doesn't quite fit the pre 85 cut off, don't worry. It's a non-competitive fun ride, not a national title event!
Common sense will be the order of the day! ;D
-
Good to see there are still some sensible people out there......... Nice work IT.. ;) ;)
-
No KTM 300 watercooled thingys Popeye. :D :D
-
It's only 20mins from my place, I'll have to get along and have a look on Sunday morning and see what I'm missing out on!!
What a weekend, Clifton show on Saturday and vintage bikes on Sunday ;D
-
Small world.
Guy walked into the hire shop on sunday , got talking about bikes and he's going to Murphy's Creek.
Might end up with a bigger turnout than expected. ;D
-
How come no riding saturday arvo ?
Was this to hard of a question ?
-
nah, just got lost in the general burble on the forum...
No riding on Saturday because it's a one day event (Sunday only), not a two day event. :)
-
Whats that on the entry form about the number displayed on the bike? The bike I was planning on bringing doesn't have anywhere to put race numbers :-\
-
Don't worry about it, it's a carry over from the standard Motorcycling Queensland entry form..
Nowhere to put numbers is not a problem! ;D
-

What entry form ?
How do you guys find this stuff ?
-
You rekon this is still on Tony ?
They have just cancelled Greenlands trail ride cause of the rain. [ 19/2/2012 ]
Too wet for tents. :'(
-
How is it looking?
With Greenlands canned I might get a few more there.
-
Pulled this from the VINDURO web site fourm
As of this morning, (Tuesday 14th) it is still on. The area is well drained and although there has been a number of storms there has been no soaking rain.
Darcy :)
-
Good news - but if anyone hears otherwise can you please be sure to put a post on here, long way to go for some people if its cancelled.
Thanks.
-
Sounds perfect so far :)
-
Hi Guys, Sorry, I've been off sick for the last few days - haven't been on the computer since last week.
Here's the latest update from the organisers - current as of lunch time Tuesday, 14th February.
-
"Tony,
Just a quick update on the track for the Vinduro. We spent most of Saturday working out all the little bits and pieces that go into making a good flowing Vinduro track.
The track looks to be a ripper, it's mostly single trail stuff - semi tight in nature. Although not an overly technical track, because of the restrictions imposed by changing the property we were using, there are a couple of technical spots.
The Power Line Hill is included, and this does require a degree of commitment by the rider. Just don't take it too easy or you'll get caught. There is nothing on the hill that makes it difficult or overly challenging, it's just long and a little steep.
We've just put in a old/new section coming down just to the west of the Power Line Hill. Once at the bottom we have included a very good 1st and 2nd gear section through and around the creek line just behind the camping/start area.
This is my favourite section, it's a great flip flop through the trees up and down the creek bed..... Bloody good fun on the Husky. A little technical, but great fun.
Overall the loop is good fun to ride, not too technical, not too hard.
I phoned the property owner this morning and he did get quite a bit of rain yesterday.
That said he is not at all worried about the track and the rain at this time. This could change if we get a prolonged rainy period of several hours.
The forecast appears to telling us that the rain should disperse over the coming week, so it's looking good for a dust free ride, it may be a bit muddy in some places, but hey, we're old dirt bike riders and a bit of mud is just par for the course."

A big thanks for Toowoomba MCC and the organisers for todays event at Murphy's Creek.
You couldn't have asked for better from vinduro loop / loop options. The 10+ km loop was challenging enough to ensure you had to keep your wits about you but not too severe that had you gasping for air. Easily as good and enjoyable to ride as the hard loop at recent CD events at Conondale.
If this is the first of the many Vinduro's the Toowoomba boys are planning on running, then spread the word, these are great rides to attend.
-
Yes thanks for the day, a great ride, looking forward to the next one.
-
Thanks guys, Had a great weekend. Good track. don't miss the next one.
-
Just got home. Thanks guys had a great time. After hurling the Tenere around for a couple of laps my shoulders are so sore. Thought about it all the way home, still cann't work out what I was thinking ::) Darcy

A Tenere?! Excellent effort! I'd like to see some pics of that. There was a bloke on a DR600 at the first Vic vinduro in '07, and a young bloke on an XL600 on the HBBB vinduro loop in '09 or '10. Big bikes like that must be hard work in the really tight going.
Anyway, it sounds like a good day was had by all who attended.

Gee..how do you guys manage it???...over here on the west side of the island..it's beach towels and sunscreen at the moment...can't even think about getting on a bike..!! Good luck to you..!!
-
To all the riders who turned up for our first Vinduro, a big thank you. From the feed back we will be doing another Vinduro in the not to distant future, next time we will be able to use our block. A big thanks to Hart & Liz Kennedy for allowing us to use their land,,,, again. Thanks must also go to our loyal sponsor Toowoomba Honda, we couldn't do it without your support. Again, thanks to all for making it a great weekend.
Lawrie.
ps: To Watto in WA, we do it because we can, and we are Queenslanders.............

A big thanks to Lawrie and Doug and the Toowoomba Club and everyone who helped. It was a great day, a true old school enduro and the optional downhill with the F....... Hard warning on the arrow - lived up to the sign. Great job and a good bunch of blokes. Looking forward to the next one.
-
I went down to have a look, that's some road (track?) to get in ;D
Saw some nice bikes, good to see a few of the green machines, and two KDX400's to boot. Can't wait till my bike arrives and I can join in ;)

Got one photo off someone who was kind enough to email it to me....
This is towards the end of the loop. You climb out of a creekbed, and then just as you reach the top, the trail turns left - which is what I'm doing here... ::)
